• Best alternative to Winamp?

Windows media player (11) is a great program, but when it comes to certain things, it just won't cut it. One of its main drawbacks is that it's slooooow, and it hogs resources by starting not one, not two, but three separate processes: WMPlayer.exe, wmpnetwk.exe and devicedisplayobjectprovider.exe (which, admittedly, it is not the only program to use, but DAYUMN that process is hungry). A few years back, I got recommended using Winamp (instead of WMP 9). This thing was amazing; with a modifiable interface and user-friendly menu-options, it didn't seem to be able to get any better. It didn't. Three weeks after I installed it, a devastating update came along. I think it was at the time that Nullsoft was bought by AOL, but I'm not sure. Anyway, since that update Winamp became unusable. Since then, I've tried some other players, but none of them have really seemed to cut it. I just fell back onto good ol' WMP, and when v.11 came out, it worked perfectly. With one drawback: I can't do anything else when it's on, except maybe surfin' the net and playing Solitaire. So. What's the best alternative to Winamp and/or WMP11?
Foobar 2000
media player classic
Nothing.
(:eng101:) media player classic
I do use MPC quite a lot, but only for video files. I find the features to be inadequate for audio library management.
iTunes. I use it for PC and its just fine for playing music.
iTunes. I use it for PC and its just fine for playing music.
Some of my friends use it, but since I've had nothing but bad experiences with fApple, and because iTunes seems to move all your music to the iTunes folder, I think I'll pass.
What's bad about that? And you can switch it off btw
Songbird? Never used it but it looks pretty good. Also iTunes installs a ton of shit along with it and is a resource hog compared to other players, I wouldn't recommend it.
I'm planning to try out AIMP, QMP, musikCube and MediaMonkey in the next few days, anybody got any experience with those?
Mediamonkey is ugly as fuck but the best damn media player on the planet. But with skins and some UI customizing you can make it look pretty good.

You can say no.
What about foobar2000?
That too, :pipe: down [editline]12:13AM[/editline]
When you install itunes it will ask you if you want it to organize your music for you. Coincidentally, this is also the reason I stay away from QuickTime.
Itunes isn't a resource hog at all, especially if you turn off the equalizer... And unless you need every small bit of your resources, it doesn't have any influence at all. Firefox uses 10X more resources than it needs but I don't hear anyone complaining about that...

Huh?
Bump for great justice. Help me out.
AIMP it's a pretty good player, i use it.

Quick question, I installed Foobar so I could rip all of my CDs and put them on my new mp3 player. But when I try to rip in Foobar, it works, but asks me for all of the track names rather than importing them itself, how can I stop this?
Nothing.
. Winamp is the best imo.
. Winamp is the best imo.
I agree with this although I wish Winamp could rip to MP3 without Pro.
