For christmas I was planning to build a new computer, my first custom built one to be exact. This is what I have together so far.

Is this any good? I have more but don't have the list on me.
Total budget and do you need everything (Monitor, keyboard etc..)?
1. i5 if you aren't going to be rendering stuff
2. The 1156 socket is dual channel not tri channel
3. Get a OCz, Corsair, or Antec Power Supply
4. Use that money you saved to buy a 5870
You really dont need the I7 if this is for gaming, you can go to an I5 but thats only a suggestion. If its for gaming stick to the I5 if you will be doing a lot more than that such as video rendering, capturing, etc. Then go with the I7

Switch the PSU with this one http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276574&Sku=ULT-LSP550.
I bought one yesterday and got it in the mail today. This PSU is great.

no thanks, I'm sure most people prefer their shit to be functional
I have a OCz for I just got
They are on sale for $50 on newegg :D
no thanks, I'm sure most people prefer their shit to be functional
Cause I'm sure you've used this PSU before and have experienced it's many "failures."
it's $30 and it's a shit brand, what are you expecting?
next you'll be telling me you saw a great deal on a logisys the other day

Uhh huh. Way to base your statements on nothing but what you've heard. Logisys is a crap brand, anyone can agree with that. Ultra does however make decent PSUs, but you're too busy fuckin' your Corsair to notice.

Ultra offers a lifetime warranty so they are decent.

Found my bookmarks. This is the computer I planned. No GPU because I already ordered the GPU.

3. Get a OCz, Corsair, or Antec Power Supply
4. Change the Case
5. Change the Mobo

rockin' an unbranded (or unrecognisable, anyway) prebuilt shit actually, probably running on borrowed time at this point hence getting a new one soon
cheap shit is shit, this is a widely known fact applying to any product
Crap wait. This was the GPU I got.
MSI R5750-PM2D1G Radeon HD 5750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Retail

Sounds more like an opinion to me.
And this PSU isn't normally cheap (in price), thus why I recommended it. It's usually $85 if you look close enough. Otherwise I would've let the Corsair take it's place.
It's a quality PSU for cheap.

Personally I would've gone with a different brand like Sapphire or HIS. But what's done is done.
After reading this thread I should probably get a different case.

That only leaves a power supply.
Corsair, Antec, Ocz are good

Regardless of what people say, I own one of these, and it's a great PSU for the price.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341017 Good enough?
Oh and someone said change the mobo.
500W will power any single card build, assuming it doesn't have 500 hard drives

Corsair, Antec, OCZ, PC Power and Cooling, Cooler Master, and a few others.
