Quick question about Windows 7 OEM and upgrading a MoBo

I'm aware that the OEM versions of Windows have a policy of only a single installation, locked onto a single motherboard. Now say I uninstalled all motherboard related drivers (for the sake of compatibility with a different motherboard, of course), then replaced my current motherboard with a newer one, what exactly would happen? Would Windows ask for a new key?
I'm in need of upgrading my motherboard, and although I wont really care if I have to buy Windows 7 again, I am worried that I might have to do a complete re-installation, which I don't want to do because I have over 500GB of shit on this computer which I do not want to install again (I have no external drive as well).
Windows would require reactivation and when you tried your existing key it would tell you it's invalid. It would give you a number to call though, and I've never had a problem getting reactivation from MS over the phone. It takes like 3 minutes.
Just tell them you upgraded your PC if they ask. (They didn't for me, and apparently it's completely automated in some regions. I talked to an actual person)

It allows you to reactive after a certain amount of time without having to call or anything. I found it works at least after a month before a previous activation.
