I love my wireless logitech G602. I have so much wire clutter it's not even funny so it's nice to have one less, and the input lag is nonexistent. My only complaint is having to swap out the batteries every once in a while but it's really not a big deal.
Never ever ever ever
I'm not going to willingly increase response time when I play competitive games, and also risk having the batteries die mid game.
Not to mention interference
No the fuck it isn't

so are you going to argue with reasons against the claims made in the article? i've got the personal experience, as do other brave facepunchers, to say that pricey wireless mice are actually good now
[editline]23rd January 2017[/editline]
consider something: simple home wifi can stream 1080p 90fps data at 6ms latency; why do you think less than a thousandth of the data that a mouse uses can't be done in 1ms over a dedicated short-range wireless connection?
Read the article please. The whole point of getting a wired gaming mouse is because of:
- less response time
- lack of batteries
- no interference
... and the article is about how mouse companies are looking to remove or lessen those issues, some of which they already have.
Literally the subtitle of the article is "How can gaming mice improve in 2017? We have some ideas, including a big push for wireless". It's an opinion piece and a list of expectations/desires for the year, not a statement to say "buy a wireless mouse".
Yeah it's fine to say "I think I'll stick with a wired gaming mouse" but there's a difference between that and a blog saying "Here are some obstacles for wireless mice to overcome in 2017" and responding with "FUCK YOU"

because tossing less data doesnt mean you can toss it faster
latency and bandwidth have nothing to do with eachother
That being said, *good* current wireless mice have better response time than alot of wired mice on the market these days.
I've been using the wireless Logitech G700 for years and it's amazing.
Latency is nearly nonexistent from even across the room, still using the same rechargeable battery it provided in the packaging.
I've never had a mouse like it, and my other mouse is the madcat RAT TE. Doesn't even compare.
Fuck that shit, I've been down the wireless mouse road and it left me with batteries dying right in the middle of gameplay.
I'll just stick to wired. Plus I only use my computer at my desk, so I don't need a wireless mouse to put elsewhere.

Mine is USB charged. If the battery indicator is low you just plug it in and pretend it's a wired mouse.
[editline]23rd January 2017[/editline]
The reason I like it being wireless is there isn't a cord pulling against having totally free movement (when not charging once per week for a couple of hours).
foad
I play Dota and CS:GO with a wireless mouse no problem, when it gets low I plug it in. You guys are being babies. [sp]I'm terrible at both.[/sp]
I wouldn't mind getting one if my mouse died, but I'm not really jumping aboard already.
Though, I'd probably leave it plugged in almost all the time making it pointless being wireless. I really only use wireless mice for my laptop.
If it's not the G900 or G403 wireless mice, then it's not worth your time. Bottom line.
Wireless mice in this day and age (specifically every other ~gamer~ wireless mouse besides the G900 and G403) have horrible firmware, bad click delay, drop reports, noticeable input delay, inability to poll at 1kHz consistently, etc.
Wireless gaming mice up until recently have been a marketing gimmick, but we're getting there.

I just upgraded from a wired laser mouse to that and I really like it now that I got used to it. It just bugs me that the thumb buttons feel like two rows of teeth

A wired mouse is both cheaper and just as good. I don't use mice across rooms, my mouse sits at my desk at all times of the day and remains unmoved. Because of this, I don't need a wireless mouse. I'd say it's probably more convenient for me to have a wired mouse, as the wire doesn't affect me and it requires no battery maintenance, as rare as that may be.
maybe a wireless mouse is fine if you live between bumfuck nowhere and the suburbs. If i tried to use a wireless mouse in an apartment it would cut out at random whenever a neighbor turns on a microwave or starts using too much wifi.
How the fuck do you guys have so much trouble with wireless mice?
Even when I was rocking two 21" CRT monitors mo more than 6" away from my mouse (Logitech Mx700) at all times I wasn't ever running into the interference troubles you say happens if your roommate so much farts from across the room.
I was pretty floored when my local Staples didn't have a wired mouse/keyboard stocked.
My mouse doesn't need to go anywhere thank you. Unnecessary technology, and nothing else. Instead of asking "why not?", just remember what you're defending during those situations when it dies and you're in the middle of something that needed a working mouse...which is always, when you're using it.
sorry but batteries can get expensive
The problem with wireless, to me, mice is that that the battery will eventually die. I have a Logitech Performance MX, which I've had since 2010, and in the last few months I've noticed it doesn't hold a charge for as long, and it seems to be more jerky than it was initially.
I'm sure a wired mouse would have some issues after 7 years of constant use, but it feels more noticeable with a wireless one. Having to stop playing a game because the mouse can't hold a charge for more than a day gets pretty annoying, though the fact that the battery used to last up to a week with constant use is fairly impressive.
[QUOTE=psychofox67;51718432]sorry but batteries can get expensive[/QUOTE]
Modern wireless mice with rechargeable batteries don't have that issue, you don't replace their batteries.

also sound expensive

...Now that is actually some incredible design choice. What mouse is that?

G900 and G403 both support this, they're also the only decent wireless mice for things that are not office work.

The funny thing with this, is that, wireless VR is the ultimate goal. Why the fuck not lmao.
Wireless has its use. people just need to respect that.
hey i cut my mouse cable, now what? the picture and title says i should embrace it.
now i will try to move it. hey it don't work. maybe i did it wrong.
The only wireless mouse which has a proper sensor and doesn't drop polls at 1000Hz is the G403 Wireless. Even then the fw isn't the best (click delay goes up to like 8ms when the sensor isn't tracking lmao).
Using G700s and I couldn't go back to wired mice for gaming. The cable tug/drag is just too much of a problem for me (and no, I can't use a bungie with my desk). There's really nothing to fear with wireless mice compared to the early days, where input lag really was a problem.
