Yes, a bright 2014 full of microtransactions, Day 1 DLC, and a third consecutive Worst Company in America win.
Like the rest of the games industry, EA is struggling as more players switch to causal games on mobile devices such as "Angry Birds".
This is a hugely flawed statement. I don't see anyone dropping their copy of Mass Effect 3 in the trash and only playing games on an iPhone from now on. Growth in microtransaction-farming shitty mobile games and declines in console sales =/= console gamers ditching real games for casual games.
More likely is that more people who previously never gamed are buying into mobile games and regular gamers are buying fewer EA products because, I dunno, they figured out that EA sucks ass.
"Electronic Arts has had some problems with SimCity"
Amazing how much one sentence can make me laugh like a nutter
They're only saying this now because they've got a hold of the Star Wars franchise. Basically, no matter how shit they do anywhere else, that bloody Star Wars stuff will keep EA going for another few eons.
We've lost, EA's going nowhere and there's a boatload of more shitty games and DLC to come :(

How can you not see what's been happening? Pretty damn obvious.
Back in '06 and before, smartphones with games and apps weren't easily obtainable, household items. How would a casual gamer play videogames? They'd buy a Wii, or an Xbox and only buy like 1 game a year on it. Now with how crazily available smartphones are, there's no point in buying a brand new console if you can just play simple games on your phone.
People aren't dropping Mass Effect 3 for iPhone games, no shit. People who would buy games like Mass Effect 3 are going to continue to do that. It's just that LESS people are buying some games because they don't need to or want to, because they've got a much cheaper alternative in their back pocket.

I also don't get why everyone is so fucking meodramatic about this.
Yeah, we get it, EA blows. You know what? You have this thing called "choice," which means you don't have to buy each and every single one of their "hurr hurr blown and bloom day one dlc casual linear" games.
This article is not trying to market anything to you, it's not somebody lying about content, it's not about some new buyout of a developer, it's a representative saying that they have high hopes for the future.
well at this point they can only go up

Yeah, guys! We have choice in our video games! If I want to play a Star Wars game, I don't have to support a shitty greedy company like EA-
Fuck.

Then too fucking bad. If you don't want to support a company, don't buy their games. What's that? They're making games you want to play? Then buy them.

I mean, they're an "awful," "evil," and "greedy" company, right? Surely they're incapable of making games worth your time and money!
