• christmas build for around a grand.

hey, i'm looking to put together a new build for around 1000 dollars. so far i've been thinking about an i5 with a gtx 570, and 8 gigs of ram. Also, i am wondering if it would make more sense to look into a phenom II x6. the rig would mostly be used for gaming, and there is a good chance that i would try to overclock it to 4.0ghz. I am also looking into a 70 dollar watercooling setup, but I am very inexperienced in that aria, so i have no idea weather or not that would make a serious difference. any thoughts would be appreciated, seeing as this is my first build. thanks
You don't necessarily need water-cooling, just make sure the case you buy has good airflow. Some Corsair cases I've seen come with huge fans at the top of the tower, that way they can spin at lower rpms and still be quiet. If you're still worried about heat, you might consider buying an aftermarket fan for the processor, because the stock intel/amd fans aren't as good.
cool, what brand of fans are you thinking of?
I can't vouch for the fans, but that Intel i5 (particularly if it's the 2500) will outperform any of the AMD Phenom's, even if overclocked.
-snip- Its not a 570 but a 560 will still do you pretty well. [editline]25th November 2011[/editline] 2500k is out of stock so I cant add that
This is a pretty well recommended fan http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103065
