So, this router I have has been crashing recently, (Within 30 days). I was getting upset and ready to switch to another Internet provider because of said crashes. Within maybe two weeks, my internet on my Windows computer has been derping hard. Firstly, It can't go to webpages, even though I can access them perfectly on my mac. It often will not connect to the steam servers, saying "No internet connection", why I am talking with my friends on skype. I have done multiple attempts to reconnect to the internet directly from the PC and restarting the router a few times. Nothing has helped. I am seriously looking into a new router by now, maybe even a new provider.
About 3 months ago, my family switched from a great router to this one we have now. The reason for switching routers is simply because my family downstairs couldn't get good connection (Im upstairs with my router), We wanted A whole new internet router to go downstairs, making all of us have good connection. Instead, the cable man that came to our house suggested a new router that will "increase the connection, and make it a better internet". We took the offer and said we would give it a shot. A couple months down the road led to this nonsense.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix my Windows' Internet problem?

If you didn't mean ethernet by "directly" I'd guess your Windows computer's wireless card is bad. if the router is with you I recommend buying a ethernet cord which will solve lots of your problems via direct connection.

If other connections work ok like Steam or Skype during the inability to get to webpages, then it is a DNS issue. Check this page out on how to set up a good DNS connection: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

This contradicts with my DNS issue hypothesis due to Steam using IP based connections, but holds firm with having a bad wireless card.

How old is your modem? I had a similar problem so I bought a new router, however the new router didn't solve the problem. Found out the modem I had was 8 years old, calling my ISP they replaced it the next day with a brand new model modem that worked

How I solved that problem is I drilled a hole in the nearest vent and dropped an ethernet cable from the router down it. In my case we just had desktops down there so I bought a cheap (15$) ethernet switch which split the connection for them. You could do something similar but with another wireless router (set to bridge mode) if you need it.
Ok I hope that gives you some ideas, feel free to ask more specific questions. I answered as much as I could.
