I remember joking about this back when they updated the glove models. They actually fucking did it.
wow, this game is really losing its art direction uh?
does it come with hats?
wow, this game is really losing its art direction uh?
it lost that a long time ago. i cant speak for how dota 2 is looking but valve cant help but make their multiplayer games hideous eventually with unfitting skins.
it lost that a long time ago. i cant speak for how dota 2 is looking but valve cant help but make their multiplayer games hideous eventually with unfitting skins.
I haven't played Dota in a while, but I remember the Arcana/Immortal skins were starting to get out of hand. Some of them are a mess of particle effects and visual clutter.
The fat sloth Valve wakes from it's monthly slumber once more to roll out of their money pile to pinch out another minuscule content drop. Shortly before the dump truck arrives again to sate their hunger of another truckload of cash.
it lost that a long time ago. i cant speak for how dota 2 is looking but valve cant help but make their multiplayer games hideous eventually with unfitting skins.
Idk if it's because of the visual clutter like simzboy said, but some of Valve's latest minor reinforced important visual cues like where your own hero currently is (by giving the health/mana bars white brackets) or that a hero is currently affected by a stun/silence/etc (went through some iterations, some of which were big screen hoggers, I think right now it just gives a text popup over the afflicted hero and underneath their health bar there's an additional timer bar that depletes as the status effect runs out). Dota 2 certainly has more particle effects than ever. For example, here's a courier from Spring this year (it occasionally runs around the map delivering items to player characters). It's tied to a tournament and gets fancier the more money you spend on it. It looks like a higher production value version of those "level your hero!" flash game ads: old Dota 2 courier for comparison. Those were acquired like TF2 Unusuals: Obviously, the items with fancy effects aren't common drops, but many of them are just a few cents on the Steam Community Market, and it's easy to get your hands on a few of them by buying the base version of the Compendiums/Battle Passes for Valve's regular tournaments.
it lost that a long time ago. i cant speak for how dota 2 is looking but valve cant help but make their multiplayer games hideous eventually with unfitting skins.
Dota 2 looks the most alright in terms of Art Direction compared to TF2 and CSGO. CSGO is also still there, since it's not that much of a change.
The difference between TF2, CS:GO and DOTA 2 is that DOTA is set in a fantasy setting with magic and other stuff like that which means a lot of the things that would completely ruin the art direction in the earlier two will look just fine in DOTA
At least with TF2 and DOTA 2 the non-promo items fit in with the characters personality or theme, though. Here it's just entirely random things for no justifiable reason.

should probably just uninstall csgo I don't play it much anyway and I have no interest in downloading patches for fucking glove skins
Heh remember the sun on a stick? Pure garbage.
As i said, the non-promo items. That was a a promotional item for RIFT.
