It isn't free, it's for people who bought the now cancelled season pass, which is the price of a full game

also "Season Pass holders will continue to have access to a variety of additional content, including Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China" is apparently how they're justifying that they're still getting the season pass content

The season pass for AC:U was 30 USD, not 60 USD (The standard price of a new AAA release).
edit: I dunno how you could disagree with that considering the full price of a new game is $59.99/60.00 USD and the AC:U season pass was $29.99/30.00 USD. That's not the price of a new game. That's [I]half the price [/I]for a new game.
