So My GTX 470 is performing on par with my old, old, old 9800gt.
Specs:
i7 930
6 GB corsair dominator 1600mhz RAM
Antec neoPower 650w PSU
When I first got the card I was getting ~30 FPS in ungine bench with max settings, now Im getting ~18fps.
I've reseated the card, and reinstalled drivers.
Is there anything else I should try before I RMA my card.
Did you download the latest drivers on the nVidia website?

Indeed I did sir, 257.21whql I believe.
I thought they were supposed to be in the 258 range.

You are correct, however this was just last night, so I'm pretty sure I dl'd the 258 drivers then.

Then it's your lucky day! I've got a 9800GTX+ right here ready for you and you only have to trade in your 470! Win-win right here right?
Have you checked the temperatures of the card?

Tempting as that Is I think I'll take my chances with returning it.
Sure you uninstalled the old drivers?
do you have tessellation on?
Have you checked the temperatures of the card?
Sub 70c even at full load,
Its in a HAF X with an ultra Kaze pointed right at it.
(Although a few weeks ago it hit ~105c because the Kaze was unplugged and I had the fans @40%, but then the drivers overrode my manual fans speed and got the temps down right away.)
I don't think 105c will damage the card
I don't think 105c will damage the card
:derp:
IMO anything above 80c full load is a no-no unless you're running a gtx 480 or something
Just RMA it. It's like my 250 GTS. For some reason, it just crashes in random games because it gets too hot. And I can't RMA it, my parents won't let me.

hunger strike
Hmmm, Is there a better program than driver sweeper??
What DX version are you running? If you ran in 10.1 with your 9800gt and your using 11 for your GTX470 that would be cause for a discrepancy. Also, check if you have tessellation on, I'm pretty sure it is enabled by default, the 9800gt doesn't do tessellation.
Drop your renderer setting down to 10.1 so you have an even comparison.

why the hell will your parents not allow you to rma it
if they bought it, then tell them they bought a broken piece of hardware and that their money has gone to waste unless you rma it
if you bought it, tell them it is your money and you want every buck out of the card
but to OP, I would rma it, or maybe first call the technical support of the company who owns the brand. So not from the shop from where you bought it because they will probably give dumb suggestions.
Thanks for the suggestions, RMAing it for sure.
did you check the dx version?
Wait, what do you mean by "in par"? You ain't trying to run them in SLI mode eh? I'm not sure, but I thought you need a special SLI card(which is one of the graphics cards) and another card, but the same model as the first.
On Par
And no i wasn't trying to run in SLI, but DX version doesn't matter. I set ungine to dx9, lowest settings 640x480 and I still get 10-15fps.
I ordered a new card so that I can see if the card is the issue (I was going to get a second one anyway.) If the new one works I will RMA the old one.
Sorry for reviving this thread, but I received the replacement card, and The problem is still there.
One is being used as a PHYSx Card, you can't SLI two different cards, you can use Hybrid SLI but with boards that support it.
It is not at PAR. You are just configuring it like an idiot.
Running 2 different cards = 1 normal and one Physx
SLI = both as normal and physx

You also need to set the 470 as main card.

returning it when you could simply rollback drivers or do some basic research instead?
ok

I tried 4 different drivers, and used driver sweeper, no avail. And why does everyone think I have the 9800GT in my system, I was using it as an example of how the 470 is performing, I have a 9800GT as a backup card, In a box under a desk. My issue is that I have had 2 separate 470's on many different drivers perform absolutely terribly.
Reinstall windows. Seriously.

And or get a new power supply. Just buy a really powerful one in a store and see if it helps. If so, or not, just return it and buy one cheaper online.

Hilariously enough, Just reinstalled windows, went back to say that a mod can close this thread, and the answer was given while I was reinstalling windows.
