• Graphics Card Woes

So, first thing's first: I sent my old graphics card (GTX 260) in because it broke (blue lines all over monitor etc). In the meantime, I borrowed my dad's graphics card to get some files off of my computer before the new card arrived. Now, I have my new card (HD 4890), but there is one problem: it only works in the secondary slot. In the primary slot, the motherboard gives a "video error" (1 long beep followed by 3 short ones) Is there anybody who can help me? Thanks a bunch! <3
You should've just put the 260 in the microwave.
You should've just put the 260 in the microwave.
Then I wouldn't have gotten a free HD 4890 from XFX. :rolleye:
Did you clear the drivers off your computer BEFORE putting in the new card?
Did you clear the drivers off your computer BEFORE putting in the new card?
It didn't even POST in the first slot. I have it in the second slot now, and it seems to be working OK. I'd still like it in the first slot though, so if anybody else has suggestions... [editline]05:32PM[/editline] Ugh, it's still displaying the dots and blue lines once in a while, still... I guess it's my motherboard? :(
It might just be. Try on-board video if you have it.
