The game that we got is not even close to a finished game, and obviously not even close reaching 80 percent of the capabilities of the underlying game engine. From inspecting the files this is CRYSTAL CLEAR. Its closer to a tech demo than a game.
I didn't need someone to dig through the files to know this, it's obvious on its face, but it's nice to hear. Maybe there's hope for the post-release support after all.
Then again, it's been almost a full month since patch 1.09 came out. This is either a good thing (most of the stability issues have been resolved and they can get working on adding new features and content) or a bad thing (good luck on another patch). I'm hoping for good things. HG is heads-down and hoping to earn forgiveness, apparently, so hopefully there's a late recovery, despite the damage done.

I think all the refunds killed any chance for content updates
I think a lack of any communication at all really doesn't bode well.

I don't think it's a good plan, but if their plan is to not say anything until they have a content patch because saying anything before then is just asking to be dogpiled for the collosal fuckup that was the launch, I can see the logic behind it at least.
I mean, nothing about NMS this year can be termed a "good plan", but at least they're not pulling a Digital Homicide/Derek Smart/Phil Fish and starting a war with fans on Twitter. It doesn't make things better but it caps how hard they can fuck up the situation.

I wouldn't get too excited about it yet, considering that they would have to redesign the whole game in order to make it more appealing and more fun to everyone. I really wish I could just unlock things once and that's it, you got the thing, no more grinding 200 times to get the same materials and objects over and over. I wouldn't even give a shit if they removed the inventory, crafting, mining systems.
They learned to keep their mouths shut and not make anymore false promises.
