• Video card death?

So I'm playing my games, minding my biz, when suddenly my monitors go black and go into standby mode as if I turned off the computer. The computer is still on and it still works, I can still hear things and talk on Teamspeak, but the monitors won't come off standby. I hard reset the computer and everything works again. A few hours later I'm playing games again and it locks up totally. No monitor loss, just a total computer freeze. Hard reset fixes it but I'm worried at this point. Less than two hours later the first thing happens again. This time I notice the fan ramps up really hard but only a reset fixes it. So I'm a little pissed and really worried I have a dieing video card here. Any ideas?
Download FURMARK and run it with the GPU temp logging ON, for about 10 minutes.
The screens shut off before the test ended.
Well then it seems your card is overheating. Either get a can of compressed air or an air compressor and dust it. You'll have to take a few precautions though, turn off the computer (duh), hold the fans with your fingers and don't use a vacuum cleaner. If that still doesn't fix it, you may have a defective card.
The screens shut off before the test ended.
Do the stability test then and see what the highest temperature you get is before it shuts down.
It died at 115c. ._.
Jesus, dust that thing ASAP :byodood: [editline]8th April 2011[/editline] oh and maybe re-applying thermal paste would help.
