• Build a cheap computer or get a new TV and save?

Ok, so right now I have 720p 32 inch TV, and I'm going to be selling my Mac for around $500-$550, and with that money, I want to either get a new 1080p TV or build a computer. I don't know which to do. Any suggestions?
For $500 you can get a somewhat decent gaming computer if that's what you're looking for. It would be more worth the money than a TV. Note that newer isn't always better - a GTX 460 dominates a GTX 550 Ti.

I have that same video card (just an older version with less memory) and I can max out any Source game with 16x anti-aliasing at 1920x1200 and still reach well over 60fps. I can max out Battlefield 3 with no anti-aliasing at 1920x1200 at around 30fps. Hmm, is it possible you can cheapen anything up on your build, even a little? If not, that is ok.
With a cheaper PSU and case, the price comes down to $471.92. Updated wishlist. Also note that there is a $25 mail-in rebate available for the video card.
HOLD IT! Do NOT go with the FX processor! Go for a Llano or Sandy Bridge dual-core. It will be MUCH better for you than a Bulldozer. Bulldozers are terribad for games, do NOT do it!
get pc, watch tv on pc, play console games as pc ports on pc, run emulator to play older games on pc

A Phenom II X4 or X6 would probably be a better alternative, then?
