For anyone profoundly confused about this, devkits for AR hardware not intended for consumers who just want to play with it (ie, people who bought rifts or vive devkits just to play with VR) are often very expensive. Many AR devkits are in a similar vein, although there are some cheaper ones out there like the Moverio BT-200 and Meta1
I really hope this thing does well commercially. It could be a real push into useful consumer grade AR. This thing would be a tad ridiculous to wear out of your home/work/bedroom but it could be a first step into AR where we'd have a sunglasses-like from factor. Being able to overlay information onto the real world could be extremely useful and fun. I can't wait to see what possibilities are opened up as people really start getting creative.
isn't the FOV absolute shit?

you can see the edges (both due to objects falling off and the slightly tinted area outside the screenspace) clearly in a lot of the gameplay shots from the recent [awful] conker game thing they did, still looks like cramped trash
