• I need help starting iPhone App Development
    7 replies, posted
Hi. I just got my shiny new iPhone 3GS 32GB. I have very little experience programming anything for an operating system. I do A LOT of website development, so i am fluent with global syntax (if-else, while, for, data types, etc). I want to start iPhone App Development, but i have no idea where to start. Any pro's wanna help a newb out? - EDIT - Yes. I do have a Mac running OSX Leopard. I also have $99 for the Development Licences.
Any help whatsoever?
I'm sure it's not that hard to find documentation on it. [editline]06:52AM[/editline] Oh, and by documentation, I mean like books and shit. You can't be cheap if you're serious about it. However I'm also sure there's some tutorials out there on the web.
I was in the same position as you, I was pretty fluent with web development but iPhone development was way to complicated for me. But I reckon you could do it, I've just not got enough motivation to do it :).
If you do get good at it, and you do make a brilliant app that's good value for money, you'll be fucking rolling in cash.
You need to learn Objective-C and read the developer documentation. Also, be persistent.

I personally found this tutorial very useful: http://icodeblog.com/2009/01/15/iphone-game-programming-tutorial-part-1/ It has 4 parts and includes quite a fair deal for the general features of a very basic app. I'm currently reading through "Objective-C for Dummies" and am reading "iPhone Programming for Dummies" straight after, by the same author.
