Phones/gadgets interfering with Plane flight control is something that has never been proven anyway.

It was a problem in the 80's iirc

That was only because back then the phones used the same frequency as the plane radio's did.
The reason we turn it off now a days, is because of potential electromagnetic interference.
Which is something that is only possible on paper in the context of a plane vs gadgets.
On top of that most of the planes hardware is protected with Electromagnetic shields.
As much as I know that it isn't really a problem nowadays, I've never understood why people can't wait the 30-45 minutes it takes to get to 10,000 feet before they turn their stuff on. Bring a book or something.
30-45 mins? What?
5-15 minutes you mean?
Although I agree it's still really annoying when there is no real reason for it to be that way. I'd rather listen to music and try to sleep during the take-off as well.
