Hey guys I've been having this problem for some time now, basically whenever I play games my system (at one point or another) will completely crash. Let me explain the sequence of events for you:
First, my computer will lock up in the middle of the game and the pixels will get all sorts of fucked up. I took a picture of my monitor to show you what I mean:

(The pixelation distortion is always different)
At this point the sound is an inaudible loop of whatever sound happened to be playing at the moment of the crash.
The screen and sound will remain like this until I hold down my power button long enough to shut the system down.
Once I reboot I get the "windows did not shut down properly" error and it asks if I want to boot safe mode, etc. Just recently however, from time to time I would get an error that would scan my hard disk for errors but it found none, thankfully.
I hope all this information helps for all you tech geniuses I know are out there, these crashes are beginning to occur within a few seconds of game play. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Some specs: Intel core i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz , Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 graphics card, 3 gigs of RAM... anything else?
No one is going to answer you unless you give specs.
