Constant display driver crashes.. linked to a soundcard?

So a few months back lightning struck near my house, fried my motherboard and PSU but left everything else intact. But for the longest time after that I was getting near constant display driver crashes and I had no idea what caused it. I tried different RAM, I tried different video cards, hell even different CPUs. I've formatted, reinstalled drivers countless times and just generally pulled my hair out.
But it turns out it was the most unlikely thing; my old Creative X-Fi Titanium card. When I've got my audio going through the Creative card I get constant crashes in games, watching movies/youtube/whatever. However if I run through my terrible on board audio it's a-okay.
I'm confident the card is damaged although it appears to play audio just fine and has never caused any blue screens. I've swapped it through the various PCI-E 1x slots I have available and it's done nothing, reinstalled the drivers and formatted as I've mentioned and have tried blowing out the ports as well (although I really doubt the issue would be caused by some dust).
I'm sure the card is a lost cause but I'd like to save it if possible. Any ideas Facepunch?
Something in there must have taken some damage due to overvoltage. Unless you plan to replace the intern components then you're probaly better off buying a new sound card.
A bit off-topic, but am I the only one who actually has motherboards with decent built-in audio? I must admit, it wasn't perfect, and that's why I use optical SPDIF (Besides that my cable broke =P)
I think that's what I'm going to have to do which is unfortunate. It just baffles me that the sound card is causing the display driver crashes. Strange.
I used to use on board audio but after I invested in a decent sound card I couldn't go back. It kind of turned me into a bit of an audiophile. :P
