As far as demo's go, this was one of the worst I've seen.
at least they showed something, no matter how unstable it was

People spent hundreds of dollars on this?
People spent hundreds of dollars on this?
This is only a pre pre alpha preview of the pre dog fighting module. The dog fighting module itself still has some iterations to go before its even in alpha stage. And afterwards there is still the single player campaign and the alpha and beta of the persistent universe left. That's were people spend "hundreds of dollars" on.

everything they have shown other than the very first gameplay has been a big fuck up. when the hangar module came up that was bug ridden, they delayed the dogfighting module, and even now it looks buggy as shit, barely even in a presentable state. worrying.

Obviously there's going to be quite a lot of problems, but they are fixing them. Nothing is anywhere near finished yet.

They should not rush a game like this. Also take into account that they had a faulty server so they had to play an untested version of the game at the demo.

It was released late and bugged as fuck. If we the Dog Fight Module comes out and people can at least connect to each other, than they've beaten Rockstar.
I think what a lot of people don't understand is that this project has been open information since day one. You wouldn't expect this game (with the scale of what it has) to be ready in the time that has been allotted for the development team to actually develop it. I don't believe this is comparable to any "AAA" title, as they are pretty much done developing major parts of the game before they even announce it. This game will take time, and honestly they've done a great job so far with what they've got.

Elite: Dangerous, one of Star Citizens competitors already looks way better at combat.
They need to look up gun convergence zones. We learned in WWII that you don't make wing mounted cannons shoot straight.
They need to look up gun convergence zones. We learned in WWII that you don't make wing mounted cannons shoot straight.
IIRC they're on a gimbal
This is why 99% of major game studios choose not to show there games this early. Because the minute their buggy ass demo decides to take a shit people automatically assume that it represents the final product and shit all over it. Its actually pretty impressive progress considering only 4 months ago DFM was just a extremely crude prototype. Most independent developers are so lazy they can't be bother to add and get that many features working in a short amount of time.
i would say that GTA:O was not initially buggy, but had huge server issues. totally different problems
What I mean is the servers are a huge part of GTA Online and Rockstar had a terrible release. A big name game company released a popular game and had a huge issue with a main part of it. So what I'm saying is, a few small bugs and issues in a alpha demo is nothing to worry about. It'd be weird that if it didn't have issues. If the final release has fewer issues than a big name game like GTA, than that's good. My response was only at Marzipas and his complaint about how it looked buggy.
Game's too big for everything to go right. If this continues it'll be too big for anything to go right.
