For an Early Access game, KSP is surprisingly well fleshed out. A diamond in the rough, if we look at the indie dreck that's been flooding Steam recently.

Or the indie dreck that's flooded the market in general. Maybe it's just my rather odd tastes in games, but when I look in the indie section I'm scrolling through a sea of samey, gimmickey 2D platformers and 'story' games looking for the odd gem like KSP or Gmod.

Yeah, I remember the days of the Indie Renaissance too. The days of Super Meat Boy, Braid, Amnesia, Magicka, hell even Minecraft at one point, back when it was mostly gems. Not to say we don't still have indie gems today, since we've got stuff like Dust: An Elysian Tail, The Binding of Isaac, Freedom Planet, Dungeons of Dredmor, all from the current decade and pretty damn good.
Even with the flood of dreck on Steam, I say that the indie scene still has a leg-up over triple-A in terms of cool interesting games, since not everyone's up for another Michael Bay style rail shooter or open world tower climbing simulator, no matter how much definition you put into Captain Price's amazing mutton chops. I'd much rather listen to Fidget talk about her fear of heights and help an abused child confront the demons in his Mom's basement, than unlock more of the map with radio towers and get yelled at by some gruff U.S Marine. If I could do all of that in one game (except maybe the tower part) that'd be awesome, but triple A studios are usually too scared to take such bold risks.

Still, even though most of them hold precisely zero interest, I can at least see that they're well made

Mmm, AAA throws its own unique flavor of dreck onto the market. Pick your poison, samey 2D indie games or samey Michael Bay-esque rail shooters. Not really much of a middle ground there...though GTA V PC and Fallout 4 will definitely get my attention.

KSP and Starbound are two Early Access games that have been worth every cent so far. Starbound entertained me for a good 30 hours or so total, and that's worth the $15 I paid for it, and I expect to get many more later. KSP has given me a couple hundred hours already since before the Mun was added
Both also have rather disgusting issues, though. KSP's terrible memory management, Starbound's long gaps between updates
That reminds me... Was Terraria ever "Early Access"? I remember the days when TB and Jesse mucked about in that sandbox like it was yesterday, especially that one time Jesse stole TB's top hat. Ah, that was a Vaudeville moment if ever I saw one.

Are those videos on YouTube? That sounds like something fun to watch.

I can agree with KSP but not starbound. Chucklefuck works slower than notch did on minecraft and I cant help feeling like I have been ripped off on it.

I believe Terraria released as a full title with the usual future updates spiel when it first released.

Oh boy you have no idea.

Enjoy nearly 100 episodes of the two of them bumbling about and TB lamenting Jesse's foolishness.
I watched that shit back in college, no regrets.

Turns out the best indie games are usually sandboxes with mod support.

Switch to the nightly build and see how much of an ignoramus you're being.
