• I borked BOOTMGR, and my CD drive is stuck closed

A while back, I installed W8 cp, and then a few days back I decided to delete it. I nuked the partition that it was in, then I rebooted later. Apparently that partition was holding BOOTMGR(probably my mistake). I went to put my W7 CD in to fix it, and my CD drive is stuck closed, and yes, I already tried the paperclip hole. So basically I need to know what to do to fix this using a flash drive. [editline]19th March 2012[/editline] I have no ability to burn a disk now(my only burner is in this computer), so I can't do Hiren's CD how it tells you to do it.
Try hitting/tapping the top of the case/cd drive while pushing the open button My DVD drive suffers the same issue, because its old. If I tap the top of it with the right force and spot though it'll open
So basicly you want to know how to make a bootable USB drive?
Pretty much.
You can quite easily make a Linux based USB stick and use that to mend the shit you broke.
Care to explain in more detail?
If you have another computer you can make a bootable usb using the Windows 7 iso and the Windows 7 USB/DVD tool.
Cool. Does it matter what version (ultimate, home premium) it is?
I install Win 7 and Win Server 2008 From an USB stick following this guide: http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/ When it says you need to put Win 7 / 8 in your DVD drive, you can just mount an ISO instead and copy the files from there.
alright, i fixed it yay
