I'm pretty interested in this. I played Zombie Master and it was a blast when it worked out (and the ZM didn't just spam hulks or something)
It's quite similar to the original as it stands right now. While there are improvements to general hit detection, it's a lot easier for the survivors to win as they were buffed quite a bit from the port. The new zombie is relatively useless as it has the strength of a wet tissue and is exceptionally easy to focus.
There's a couple of bugs but despite all this, the game is just as fun as the original when everything works out.

This mod was fucking awesome, can't believe they're making a sequel. Definitely worth a download.

Spamshee's is my favorite quote from my time playing ZM.
I think the devs jumped the gun on the name still, it's basically just an Orange Box update for the original ZM but with a few tweaks and additions.
I'll try it. I loved playing the original one, I spent more time in that than just about anything else. Hell, I learned about Left 4 Dead when it was still in development while playing Zombie Master. I stopped playing though right before they released I think 1.2. Whatever version it was that officially added Molotovs. Never really got back in to it. The one time I tried it again after that release, it was very buggy and laggy.
But it was so fun, with many levels with great stories and enjoyable traps that provided a challenge but without being just ridiculous. Blue Velvet, Diamond Lagoon. The guy who made Diamond Lagoon was actually an active member of the community I played with.
Also, what was the name of the massive space station level that had numerous sections and lots of good areas lack the thin walkway that the ZM could temporarily collapse in engineering or the medical lab and the security station with all the weapons that was hard to unlock and often resulted in numerous death?

Same here, stuck to the shamblers and kept the specials in short supply, i lost every single match i ever played as ZM but at least i wasn't being cheap.

I feel like anyone saying they've never spammed Banshee or Hulks is lying because at SOME POINT anyone who got their hands on being ZM spammed those zombies at least once or more times.
There was another level that was an underground bunker. You started on the lift and had to collect a few batteries that were hidden randomly and almost impossible to find sometimes. At the bottom of the lift was a radio playing Johnny Cash's song "The Man Comes Around". It was basically a must that someone had to carry that radio throughout the entire level. If they died, someone else had to carry it, that just seemed like an unspoken rule.

Ohh god, drifter spam. They weren't necessarily hard to kill, but if they surrounded you at all it was over.
Banshee spam was manageable if you knew how to strafe-dodge. Hulk spam was only an issue if you didn't have anything to make a barricade with or something to carry around in front of you to block them off. Buckets and barrels always seemed to be the most common ones. Crates if nothing else was around but a couple shambler hits and you were done.

Its like a nostalgia overload. Gas Station was such an amazing map if only because of the tornado. There were many times I and others could skip most of the level because the tornado would pick one of us up and we'd land just right inside the hole in the roof. Or occasionally I'd get sucked up and end up riding around on a car flying through the air. Though one time I actually managed to surf a car out of the tornado safely to the ground.

Also, do the old maps work with this version, or will they have to be recreated?
Can't wait to get all my school shit to be over to play this game.
Some of my favorite memories came from Zombie Master, I didn't even mind the really shitty gimmick maps like tetris.
I remember this total bro hosted the best server way back then and the server had like the fucking best map list ever, so many good maps nobody ever played.
I am almost considering somehow getting a server up for this if the patches balance it and the mapping community becomes strong.

Yeah, Hulks can be easily curbed by barricades, but most of the time I saw Hulk spam, it was on that Crocodile obstacle course map or similar progression maps rather than survival ones. There was just something really damn cheap about the ZM plugging all the choke points you had to go through with Hulks and having to run in circles to gradually lure them away.

Many were fun, but could be completely broke by a bit of spam.
Now how do I play ZM2...Ya know it ain't launching.
Isn't this from Bad King Urgain, the guy who made TTT?
Isn't this from Bad King Urgain, the guy who made TTT?
No, it's from other people who wanted to continue making ZM.
ZM was the only game/mod that using dev textures were acceptable. Many fond memories on ZM.
I hope those two Australian servers come back online again. The original provided so many great memories...
I never spammed Hulks. I spammed Shamblers.(If that was the correct name.)
I used to love waiting until some survivor stumbled upon one of the red circles, and I would hit my keybinding to spam shamblers.
SO right now there's glitches being flashlights not working the AI being fucking terrible and orbs not working.BUT ON THE BRIGHT SIDE I managed to kill someone with a physics prop and won a round using only hidden spawns.
it's just the first game with a couple of new stuff, guns looks really nice but they should've used more updated stuff like breakable doors
Well, if this is the first public beta, surely there's a chance they'll add more to the game? Maybe they're keeping it similar so they can see what the reaction is and add/remove stuff accordingly.
I remember a tetris map, where the ZM would drop massive tetris blocks on survivors trying to get to the other end of the map. It was hilarious, I really miss it.
Oh god yes gotta play this
I'll wait till the custom maps break in again

I know both the 2 aus servers admin that used to run them both and both have left after one of the servers that broke of the original server destroyed itself and also decided to cause some dumb ass fight that made the person who paid for it say fuck it but that was like 4 years ago
Zombie Master is easily one of my favorite source things.
I've been waiting for this for so long, I'm simply ecstatic right now. I feel as happy as when I got my first truck!
Wow I completely forgot about ZM2. The original was easily one of my favorite mods/game in general. Definitely giving this a whirl.
