• New GPU? 770 vs 290

Any opinions on the nVidia 770 vs the AMD 290? I think I'll be picking one up soon but can't decide which one to use.
What GPU do you have currently?
That's not even a question. 290 is way better. Get the XFX 290 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9290aedfd Excellent cooler and warranty.

If he has an okay-ish card, I'd say wait for the new 800 series and whatever AMD is coming out with. We are at the very end of the 700 series; would be a shame to buy now and have the new series come out soon.
When do you think those will come out?
When do you think those will come out?
Considering the Titan Z was released, I see that as their last card for the 700 series. They can't get much better than that on GK110. I am guessing they'll announce it here in a few weeks.
Are NVIDIA at E3?
Are NVIDIA at E3?
I haven't been keeping track of it, but I'm positive they are. EDIT: Yep, they are. https://twitter.com/NVIDIAGeForce/status/474343166443675648
800 desktop cards most likely coming out 2015 because their 20nm facilities are running behind [editline]6th June 2014[/editline] Nvidia e3 will most likely focus on SHEILD and utilities like shadowplay

Why not 3 290s for $1100? If you have good airflow in your case it would be a better investment. You have a x79 board after all. You could actually game at 4k easily with triple 290s

Is there a particular reason? 290s actually scale surprisingly well. It's about a 20% drop per gpu (100%/80%/60%), which is much better than nvidia, which has about a 30% drop. 3 290s is currently the best and cheapest setup at $1100 to play at 4k. I honestly think it might be worth jumping straight to 4k from 1080p rather than 1440p. Prices on 4k monitors should reach around $500 in a year or so, and the performance increases on the 800 series won't be mind blowing by any means. Getting 2 290s now and adding another later when it drops in price and buying a 4k monitor seems like a nice way to jump to 4k gaming. Besides, the 780 Ti will be fine for 4k gaming on 1 monitor . There's really no point in going with more than 2 cards unless I have multiple monitors, which I don't

Not only that, you'd need a hell of a CPU to not be bottlenecked at that speed.
I mean sure you could use it elsewhere but there's nothing else to use it on if you want straight up increased performance at 4k for gaming. If a 4670k is a "hell of a cpu" than I agree.
Not only that, you'd need a hell of a CPU to not be bottlenecked at that speed.
I have a 4820k. Besides, I would have to be running on a Duo-Core @ >2.5 GHz to bottleneck. And as I said before, I already have 1 full cover waterblock for a 780 Ti. Would be a shame to waste it.
Gotta SLI EVGA K|NGP|N's
Gotta SLI EVGA K|NGP|N's
I had a look at their K|NGP|N's last night and I didn't find them all that pleasing :\
