The biggest problem I had was with power consumption that it required when you had the 2 lenses hooked up wirelessly, and had them hooked to a 3rd system (that would render / GPS / be lead gyro)
So it was all-in-all a cool project, but was limited to what consumers can get their hands on (Getting extremely efficient custom-made batteries / wireless energy using magnetic fields is not easy to do)

If this were used as some type of HUD, I imagine that having some sort of implant near your eyes that could transmit energy to them could work. I recall somewhere there being implants that draw energy from the natural current in a human body so it all seems doable.
