Agreed, Imperial was always one of the main races to choose from and should be now.
If your going to go about creating pre-order races, why not just create a new one? There are plenty to take from TES Lore.
I always liked Bretons anyway. :suicide:
But still, I'd love more race options :(
Definitely one of the scummier "exclusives" I've seen come out of an MMO, especially one that has the gall to charge $60 with a $15 monthly fee.
How can you pay for something like this and not get unfair advantages. Also this should be available to everyone and not locked to who the fuck ever pays more money. Your only furthering your company own needs rather than your player base.
They can fuck off. How can you take the central race away from everyone. If you played the past games it mainly revolves around Humans and Elves. So now you're gonna restrict one of the Human races but not an Elf race. Restricting races is dumb and I'm seriously on edge of not buying since I began playing in the alpha.
so they want you to pay for content that could be part of the original game
but decided to make it exclusive to a 'edition' plus a monthly subscription, on top of a horrid starting price
they cannot expect to have their game succeed for a good while
Aren't the imperials wealthier, better educated and part of a more prosperous civilization?
Sound like an unfair advantage to me.

Oh the irony.
The only other alternative would have been to offer a collector’s edition that offers no in-game items whatsoever
I don't see the issue.
This whole thing is shaping up to be such a catastrophic failure that I'm honestly surprised Bethesda haven't publically distanced themselves from this impending trainwreck.
Also there is a pre-order 'explorer' pack that allows you to pick any race regardless of chosen Alliance, what a waste of time this game is going to be. But if this game is going to be very popular the race ratios are gonna be fucked up because of this. It's like the horribly contrived "lore" they created doesn't even matter to them.

but according to lore imperials didnt exist during this time period right???
why are they even in this game???
Cutting out one of the main races that has appeared in essentially every Elder Scrolls game is such a shit thing to do, not to mention since the 3 alliances are fighting over control of Cyrodil the Imperials are arguably the main focus of the whole entire damn thing. Any hope of this game succeeding lessens with each passing day.

Read: "We could offer a 90€ collector's edition that only contains some plastic statue and an artbook nobody cares about but then we wouldn't sell enough of them. Instead we decided to cut a feature from the standard edition to make our fans spend 30€ more."

It's hardly a cut feature, it shouldn't be included at all. They disfigured the lore for the alliances (and convenience) by making friends out of neighbouring regional enemies. So this 'cut feature' is basically just a hastily squeezed in, and useless addition.

Yeah maybe. But in the end it's the same, Bethesda could have afforded to put every feature in the already expensive standard edition but chose not to to make fans shell out more.
So a sixty dollar entry fee then fifteen dollar subscription, along with semi-overpriced pre-orders? This is going to wreck HARD.

COuld be worse, imagine one of the exclusives was horse armor

If you're unfamiliar with TES, the Imperials have roughly the worst racial bonuses in history, so if the races abilities stay true to the games (which as far as I've seen they have) it definitely won't be a gameplay advantage. That being said, I still massively disagree with this decision and even though I've pre-ordered ESO I'd be happy if they reversed their decision

Zenimax online. Bethesda is not making this game.

Who is owned and funded by Bethesda.
Who is owned and funded by Bethesda.
No, they're not. They're owned by Zenimax, who also owns Bethesda. Bethesda softworks is publishing the game, but they are not to be confused with Bethesda game studios who are not involved. I believe Bethesda game studios has even said that they will not consider TESO events canon for the next proper TES game.
Zenimax online. Bethesda is not making this game.
Bethesda are publishing it though, so they are the one who handle things like pricing, budget, etc. That's why I didn't say Zenimax.
What the fuck is the point of being sold as unique when you are just going to be another human with a different race name?

Sloads
Metal skinned Men
All them Akivar races
Snow elves (eeeeeh, may or may not have been falmer at this point)
I hope they are not just from the special edition and you are able to purchase the race later on after release. My standard race is pretty much Imperial, I won't be getting this game right away since I am just gonna wait and see if it goes free to play later on. Stupid though that a race that's been in every game since Arena are locked to this.

Wouldn't that be even scummier? Claim the Imperials are a special edition exclusive to get people to buy an expensive copy then release said race for purchase anyway?
The lore is beyond fucked right now, so it'd be easier for them to explore different race options. I mean hell, they might as well.
There's no turning back on this trainwreck.

Todd Howard said something along those lines, though I'm not sure if he was speaking on behalf of Bethesda or just himself.
reminder that if anyone actually buys this game they have fundamental misunderstandings about the value of money
