Program that friend can download to message me on my iPod?

Hey, I have a shitty iPod Touch 1g and I want to talk to my friend, but his phone service is fucked as of today, and his facebook isn't working either, and he doesn't have an iPod Touch either.

Skype requires 2g, 3g, or 4g and so does the Steam app.

So is there a program that my friend can download on PC and an app that i could get on iPod so we could message eachother temporarily?

A program called "Text Now" might work, because you can use it the web as well

He could text you using Google Voice. Going by your post, you can't use web and he can't use his phone, so that's probably the only way.
