Let's hope they stick to the actual canon somewhat and don't involve Alice, though I seriously doubt that's what's going to happen.
God, Resident Evil fell by the wayside BIG TIME. The first movie was actually really good in my opinion. Pretty well done considering the bare bones budget it was on, but they made it work. I know a lot of people including myself were expecting literally "Resident Evil 1: The Movie" but I think it was cool that it took place separately from RE1's Mansion Incident. And that super Licker was pretty badass. Apocalypse is nowhere near as good, but admittedly it's a guilty pleasure. Plus Sienna Guillory is hot as hell in that movie. The rest of the films sadly, are garbage. It seems to me like Constantin are trying to capitalize on the success of The Walking Dead. But I honestly just don't see how Resident Evil can translate well to a TV series. I'd love to see the series get back on it's feet in the cinematic medium, but I think Paul Anderson just dug the grave too damn deep, no pun intended.

RE1 was good in it's own (failed) attempt at a survival horror feel, but it was too damn boring. Then I watched Extinction, and that put me off the film series for good. I don't think this TV series will hold up unless it has nothing to do with the films.
I've secretly always wanted a Silent Hill tv series.
i wouldn't mind the events not following the games just so long as alice wasn't there. the other guys usually look/act like their characters from the games and tbqh are fairly well cast and costumed (chris looks like chris, wesker looks pretty much like wesker, jill looks like (pre-RE5) jill etc.) but alice just isn't fun to watch at all. none of the stuff she actually DOES is much stupider than stuff leon does in re4, but she just isn't a character you came to see, you don't really care for any of the stuff she does. i mean you could totally keep the backflips and karate kicks and stupid shotguns shooting coins and stuff and that would be fine, cos modern resident evil is kind of stupid to begin with and anyone who has a problem with backflipping ninja shit didn't play re4. but basically it needs to be a resident evil character doing it [editline]13th October[/editline] i mean look at this. leon has a backflipping knife contest with a mutant version of the bad guy from Commando, and then when the spy lady in the red chinese dress shows up the bad guy from Commando BACKFLIPS FIFTY FEET IN THE AIR AND LANDS ON A LEDGE. and then later he shows up with no shirt on and chases leon through a random temple with an army of robot drones.
I think Resident Evil can make more of a TV series than Silent Hill could, but you never know. Silent Hill could revolve around an ever changing world, surrounded about the fog, with mysterious creatures that lurked inside of it. Perhaps they could even introduce new creatures(that didn't stray too far from lore). Resident Evil could be more about the outbreak.. Survival, hopefully something different than the lines of The Walking Dead. And hopefully not the direction that the movies took.
-wurds-
I'd be fine with them keeping it a separate story from the games, but i agree on that alice shouldn't be anywhere near this. Neither should the super-soldier clone bullshit.
I don't ever think zombies would win in real life. If they did ever mass into a single horde, one grenade machine gun with enough ammo would easily utterly obliterate it.
I'm still pissed that George Romero never got to do the Resident Evil movie.
Unlikely as it is and saying so having never played it, but it could end up a series based off Operation Raccoon City. I also kind of agree that the main character from the movies should be kept far far away from it, good or bad. Comedy Guess: A claymation series based off "The Tofu Survivor".

TV series based off of the Resident Evil films? NO. TV series based off of the games, being a biotech thriller with lengthy narrative arcs and subplots incorporating characters from the games and zombies? Hell yes!
The Resident Evil films, Underworld and Transformer sequels all are guilty pleasures of mine, I just love mindless fun. *Except for that bit in the film where Nemesis cries like a little girl*
Comedy Guess: A claymation series based off "The Tofu Survivor".
5 minute Tofu shorts with Prometheus and Bob type antics would be brilliant.

Plus the t-Virus is waterborne and airborne, so new infections that aren't bite related are probably constant in that universe. That's actually touched on in Extinction, the nuking of Racoon City didn't work as the virus was airborne and waterborne. In the games, they caught it relatively early and erased it before it could really get out of hand.
Shit, I could see a 6-12 1hr episode series revolving around survival horror actually working. You could pull that off in, say, a huge mansion filled with traps and batshit puzzles with increasingly aggressive monsters and expanding areas to explore.

[sp]The pressure from the explosion basically did nothing to the undead as they were first tightly packed together, dampening the concussion. And second, it didn't matter if it shredded their internal organs with the pressure wave because they didn't rely on them. Explosives are given very specific mention in that regard.[/sp] [editline]14th October 2014[/editline]
Shit, I could see a 6-12 1hr episode series revolving around survival horror actually working.
I'm still pissed that George Romero never got to do the Resident Evil movie.
Pretty sure someone posted the original script Romero wrote on the net somewhere. It's really not bad stuff, certainly better than what we got ay any rate.

I think Chris was a Native American with a pet bald eagle or something, it was fucking great. While we're on the subject, I actually met George A. Romero the other day at Living Dead Festival. Great guy, he was doing free photo-ops.
the movies are so cringeworthy terrible its amazing
I demand a TV series detailing the first 3 games. I think that would be awesome if done right. Of course, I highly doubt that will be the case.
