Alright, over the course of the past week I've noticed multiple major problems with my PC and I can't find any solutions. The "speaker menu" scroll button is constantly going down as long as I have it open, I've tried changing the Communications settings, etc etc. The browser I'm using is not functioning properly either, and I've tried reinstalling it. For starters, to use Youtube I have to constantly minimize/maximize the Window otherwise I can't use the video's GUI. A lot of the time when I type something it will, instead of showing the key, go back to the previous page. The drop-down bar that shows my most-visited websites only briefly flashes instead of staying open. System Restore also won't work, though I suspect it has something to do with uninstalling Assassin's Creed 2 being the last Restore point. Before anyone suggests using Chrome in the mean-time, I've tried that, and it has problems of its own. Any (and EVERY) form of link opens in a new tab. Back Page and Forwards Page included.
Oh, and I've tried rebooting. Har har.
Thanks for any help.
These seem like a few unrelated and small issues:
1. Is the 'speaker menu' the only Windows menu with this scrolling issue?
2. You tube problems may be down to your java installation or their attempts to use HTML5 which is still under development.
3. For the new tab problem Also it sounds like your Ctrl key is screwy/stuck, or you have a setting ticked in either browser to open all new pages in a new tab.
2+3 may be due to something that quietly installed itself that affects all browsers, so check under "about:config" in FireFox, there is no alternative in Chrome for this as far as I know, but you could have a look into either "chrome://plugins" or "chrome://conflicts/" These are URLs that you type into your Address bar
Also install something to scan your computer just in case. I'd recommend:
Spybot: S&D

Malwarebytes
Alright, I haven't updated Java in a long time so that might be the problem. The Mixer window also has this problem, but it's limited to whichever one I click on which helps circumvent the problem (slightly). I'll try out what you suggested.
EDIT: Well, the drop-down bar just sorted itself out. (YAY!)
EDIT 2: Well, guess it was Java screwing around with the Audio, too. Youtube not dealt with yet. Typing's fine now.
Yeh Youtube is going through a rough patch trying to migrate to HTML5 if I am not mistaken, so idoubt you'll be rid of all issues.
Ah, OK. Still having some problems with Mozilla. Mainly with the Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons. It's bearable, though. One new problem has cropped up, whenever I close a browser the non-default Sound levels reset to zero. Again, bearable, but pretty annoying.

Whats up with the buttons? And explain the sound thing a little better. Are you saying under the playback devices, all the non-default options default to zero volume, as in the ones you do not use?
The sounds problem has fixed itself now, was probably the Java installation messing it up. By "buttons" I meant the little red "x" at the top-right and the two next to it.

Yeh sorry I meant what is actually the problem with them?
Problem is they aren't functioning. Like the Youtube problem, minimize/maximize solves it temporarily until I click on something else. Something to do with the GUI layer not registering the window being open, I guess.

so the problem isn't with the buttons themselves, but with youtube? Like I said youtube is pretty messed up. I'm on fiber optic and I still have to watch some videos in 240p lol
No, it's like the Youtube problem, but has nothing to do with it.
