Sure, you could press A to revive your pal in Dead Space 3's co-op mode, but wouldn't it be quicker and easier to say "Revive partner!" to your Kinect? No, of course not.
And that sums up 'Better with Kinect' neatly.
"fumble around with the controller" moving unused finger 0.5 inch in the other direction.
You can see in that guys face that his soul is slowly draining out as he sells his self out to Microsoft and EA.
No dev honestly thinks Kinect is good.
Also Dead Space 3 looks like shit, I mean look at this shitty marketing they have with it, let alone the shitty gameplay they have been showing. Anytime EA has their shitty hands on something to the 3rd game in a series you know its been raped.

My friend someone kept using his by mistake to open his disk tray during a game until he shut it off or something :v:

wait what? That wouldn't have killed you.. I mean, it would hurt more than childbirth but the javelin pierced his lower jaw and came out near his eye. Wasn't there a Matador in spain that got gored in a similar way?

It looks like they're fucking with it.
Like the video seems like they aren't taking it really serious and are just joking around with something that's been given to them.
Their problem is that they're toting it like some main feature, which it probably wont be in the slightest.

Its one of those 'convienent video game deaths'
Basically, even if something hit you wasn't particularly an instant killer, you'd still probably be heavily crippled and bleed out later. Because of this, you just simply die, mainly because the game doesn't have crippling mechanics nor bleeding out.
Hence why even the smallest dismemberment in a game usually means instant death is right around the corner.
Not buying this one, that's for sure.
okay, so list of things that are definitely gonna suck about DS3:
-gimmicky Kinect bullshit (par for the course these days)
-less horror stuff (but only counts if you thought Dead Space was scary to begin with)
other than that imho it's all fairly passable if this game happens to be as good as 2
And taking two seconds to say a voice command is more convenient than taking a microsecond to press a button how exactly? Steve should [sp]Papoutsis[/sp] back on the drawing board.

I don't know how your first point is a bad thing. You don't have to use it because it's pretty much useless and it doesn't affect gameplay in any way.
Second point is just a speculation. They showed us a lot of action oriented parts but that doesn't mean there will be less of the scary stuff. DS2 was marketed with a lot of action, too.

that's exactly my point. DS3 is shaping up to be a pretty badass game, yet the reception here on FP is nowhere near as good as I think it ought to be.
Kinect is a massive gimmick.
It's just that big name gamedevs have no idea on the possibilities of kinect and are often clueless of it's functions, and just throw it in to advertise it as a feature.
Really, voice commands is probably one of the worst uses for kinect.
the only thing i will ever use kinect is for motion capture
but thats it
or tracking cuss words
Anyone know what that means?
If it's only for actions that can be done with a button press, I'm not interested. But honestly I've wanted to use Kinect for dragon shouts in Skyrim for a year now. Things like dialogue and magic in games would be good for kinect. But no, I don't want to yell "reload."

Its because its taking the route of Resident evil after 4, like how RE5/6 was to RE4.
Its not as extreme because capcom actually took RE out back and shot it, then years later for RE6 it dug up the corpse and all took turns skull fucking it as they worked on that megaman iphone game no one wanted.
Instead of improving on the horror and pacing which are 2 things Dead Space 1 fell a little short in, they went for the action, but the action was honestly perfect in Dead Space 1, it just needed some better weapon balance, but now we have a game that improved on the action instead of the horror and pacing and is becoming stupid and generic to appeal to the masses.
All Dead Space 3 is appealing to masses.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure all the things they showed in the video is far quicker done with buttons. As for the swear words, they wanted to track how many times you said them, take picture of you at scary moments (screamers) but some laws I think didn't allow it.

You REALLY need to go back and play DS1.
It's nowhere as good as you keep saying it is.
You know, when you're actually playing it and not reminiscing.
Imagine how much more amazing the kinect could have been if it had been designed more for affordable and easy motion tracking instead of a gaming device. Sure, it can do that right now, but if they spent less time messing around with voice commands and actually made it more useful, it could have been something great.
Like seriously, only a ridiculously small amount of games that weren't designed completely for kinect uses it for motion capture, every other game only uses it for voice commands (which are really inaccurate and pointless btw). It's great technology but Microsoft is dragging it down and not utilizing its potential.
Meanwhile, there's that hand motion capture thing that's much more accurate and responsive, and still cheapish if i recall. What was that called again?

I actually got finished playing 2 and currently playing 1 and am at hydroponics.
Its still as good as it was when I last played it, and the other times before that.
I dont know what you are trying to get it, its not like I played it once when it first came out and never ever played it again and only remember that one time.
I actually didnt really start to love it until like my 3rd playthrough.

the action in DS1 was pretty repetitive once you boiled it down imo, almost every enemy could be defeated by blasting once in the leg, then shooting once more to take off an arm and kill it. you could take out everything except a Brute or a boss by just doing this.
also, what exactly is so stupid and generic about it? the aesthetic is basically unchanged from DS1 and 2, the plot is largely similar to the first game's from what I can tell, the co-op is totally optional, the set-pieces are cooler, the weapons are probably (judging from DS2) much better balanced, you can design your own weapons from the ground up. now, either the words "generic" and "stupid" mean something different from where you're from, or you're being irrational.

After watching this
Its honestly just an actiony, QTE ridden, cinematic filled, third person shooter with necromorphs.
This shit has more cinematics and QTEs in the first 20 minutes than all of Dead Space 1 combined.
All while using a machine gun+force gun combined fighting humans that then get cut in half and then have tentacles, like RE4-6 did.
It looks bad.
