“The interesting thing is that what Bryan has won is a grace period where he can be god of gods for a certain amount of time,” Molyneux told RPS. “We’re talking about that period of time . It won’t be less than a few months. It might not be more than a year. And then we’ll unveil the ability to usurp the god of gods and replace him with someone else. That someone else will then take on all of Bryan’s powers.”
I don't know Peter, a God is a being of omnipotence and ceaseless existence, why would their powers ever be taken away once they have them?

He doesn't take them away, the players do.

Well this guy removed a gods power so who knows

That was close

No they're not.
Curiosity, a hype engine that actually worked quite well, despite being so disparate from Godus entirely.
The prize, horrifically underwhelming and only mildly life-changing.
Now, even less so.
I like the idea of being able to usurp the ruler, interesting mechanic for somebody that would want to remove a tyrannical ruler in place of being nice maybe.

Or maybe they'll want to usurp the throne to eventually gain ultimate power as Supreme God and wipe out all knowledge of the gods that came before. Yeah, I'm looking at you, Zeus.

Your dad was a dick though, sorry about that bud.
This is definitely interesting and has got me a little more interested in Godus, but has definitely nullified all that hype from Curiosity. I suppose a lump of cash isn't that bad of a prize, though.
I thought the prize was excellent, but if they're going to make it temporary (and I don't care if temporary would mean 50 years) I find that to be complete utter bullshit.
He won the lottery, you made the prize of the lottery to be the God of Gods in Godus and with that getting part of the revenue the game makes.
And then you make the prize temporary? I mean, yes, they have all the right to do so, he only tapped on some cubes in their experiment, but your life-changing reward and all that shit completley loses value from such a dick move.
People weren't even convinced the prize was good and life changing (both of which it were) with the idea that it would be a full-time prize, and then you do this?!

You're implying they had stated it'd be permanent. Do I need to remind you that no-one even fucking knew what the prize would be?
Getting mad over something you had no control over and had no promises made of it earlier is ridiculous.

Had he said it was temporary in the video I would have been ok with it, saying so afterwards is kind of a dick move.
"You're going to be a God of the Gods and you will get part of the games revenue all thanks to you and millions of other peoples effort to participate in our experiment, you are the chosen one, you are the special man, this is your reward"
"Just temporary by the way"

He still gets the cut from the sales. Which to me is the much much bigger prize imho.

Yeah but I don't doubt there was communication between them and the winner during that time anyway.
He shouldn't make it temporary, it should be like "EVE" in the sense of a player driven mechanic, deciding on who sits on the throne of godhood. Whether you kill him, join him, or w/e is up too you.

Jesus! What where you expecting if "Getting a piece of the game's sales" is underwhelming to you?

Thats what they are doing
It's just that there's a grace period of a year (or maybe longer) where this isn't possible
Likely though people will pretty much ursurp him the moment the grace period is over because A. you get money (maybe?) and B. bryan doesn't seem like the kind of fellow to have a strong interest in this over the long term.
Yes, Bryan can't, but can I be the god of Canadiansploding? I will be known as Ca-boom!
