Like those glasses that turn dark in the sun, so i'm surprised this wasn't made sooner.
No one can deny that the iPad is an amazing piece of technology and I think it deserves it's place.
Android tablets have a ways to go still, IMO. But they'll catch up as phones caught up and everyone will be happy.
Anything that sells better than an apple product get sued the fuck out of them.
You all know it's true.
This is like those newspaper headlines that make something seem more bigger than it actually is. Like the title on this is "iPad gains 80% of tablet market", but it doesn't actually mean in the world, it means around the area it was based and, I assume, originally released first. I know that the US and Canada have a big population, together amounting to around 345,000,000 people, but compared to the other 5.665 billion people around the world that's not a lot of market share.
I know that im just taking into account the North American market share, not global market share around the world, as i'm sure a product such as this would have a proportionally large global market share. My point is that these news title make something small such as the market share of a product amongst a small portion of the population, and blowing it up to make it seem big, by saying "Oh iPad has 80% market share".
Just thought i'd get that off my chest.
I really don't get the hype around it. Paying hundreds of dollars for a paper weight that my laptop could outdo in seconds is beyond me.

Horribly limited, but yeah, I guess it's okay for dicking around online.

WebOS, Honeycomb and windows 8 will all shape up excelently, I'm sure.

Except WebOS is fucking dead.
The iPad does not deserve its place. There are tablets such as the Asus Transformer/Slider which are both cheaper, run a superior operating system and have a thriving application marketplace.

I thought development was still continuing on it, by a 3rd party?

The Transformer really is the best tablet out there, it's just amazing.
It's useful for me for Korg's two awesome emulators of the Electribe and MS-20 that are available as apps, and also nLog Synthesizer pro. They're pretty remarkably accurate emulations of the originals and make producing music much easier while still getting the relative experience of actually having to work for your compositions and have a good grasp of what you're doing. Personally I really dislike using "mouse-only" software (such as FL Studio) to compose music as I don't get the experience of "performing" the music and recording it that is at least retained with the iPad software I use.
So really - though I am typically no Apple fan by far, I'm not going to pretend like it's not a useful device simply to fit in with typical posters. It's a remarkably useful tablet regardless of whether or not there are better ones in regards to specification, and I'm gonna take a wild guess and assume that an unpleasantly significant majority of the people that so passionately bash iOS or Android have probably never used one or the other (or either). I mean why do you care so much about what stupid hipsters are buying simply because it's cool? You're on FP, enough people here have individual-enough thinking to buy something based off of preference.
well this just ruined my day!
I have the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer with docking and I'll take it over the iPad 2 any day, except there's more apps optimized for iPad, or so it seems.
