I don't understand how patents work, if Nintendo actually copied the system in which they projected glasses-free 3D, then that's fine. But I feel like it was probably a case of a patent existing titled "Glasses-Free 3D Technology" with a diagram of a person looking at a cube and that's why Nintendo has to pay up 15 million.

Basically, it's saying "send an image to each eye individually..." Yeah, that's how depth works. You didn't really invent that.

Wouldn't this apply to sharp as they make the panels?
Wouldn't this apply to sharp as they make the panels?
If Nintendo designed the screens and ordered/paid for Sharp to build them, I think Nintendo is the one with the dirty hands; Sharp can't be expected to patent-review every contract tendered to them. They're only building what they were asked to build, while Nintendo are the ones who should know better.
The only reason he sued was because GITRICHE
Maybe I'll patent something that won't be seen for 20 years, then cash in. Rednecks play the lottery, Northerners have 401ks, I can have patents
Holy shit fucking lucky guy. [editline]7th January 2014[/editline] Sucks how he doesn't get previous sales though.

No wonder they are making the 2DS. They knew the 3DS Lawsuit might result them paying a hefty royalties
