I got an Android phone just a couple of days ago, (Huawei G510) and Im hearing more and more about rooting it. My phone isnt all that powerful so Id like to clean it up a bit and modify it to my liking. Warranty always sucks though, so I wanted to ask you guys how to root my phone without having to click through millions of youtube videos and websites and have the chance to brick my phone.
Is anyone willing to help my lazy ass?
You'll most likely find a decent tool/guide on XDA. Just stay away from those themes.
Ehh... I tried it and followed the instructions word by word and all I got was a phone with no user data, contacts, settings etc. and a halfway decent Aperture Science Android bootup splash screen.
It doesn't have the same satisfying feeling as a jailbroken iOS device.
I was on my phone and I didn't realize that there were no guides (trustworthy ones that is) on XDA. Give me a moment.

Can't you download the free one?

backups are for pussies #yolo

There really isn't a way of backing up before being rooted, as the apps that will allow system/app backups are root apps (titanium backup), as well as backing up in Clockwork which is the root boot menu (most phones access this by holding volume down + power until the screen is reached)
well I downloaded something but it seems to not be working (Ultimate Backup Tool), then theres another method with SDK but I dont think its working either. well fuck and just do it then?

Follow the tutorial and you should be fine. There is no way to back up the phone without rooting it first.
btw how do I know if I have the drivers for this? I never understood drivers
well just rooted it, now what?

Got SuperSU or Super User? If not, download a terminal from the play store and type in su.
Im still trying to get throught this step

Step 1
All you'll need to download now are apk files you can find here on xda, so I'm not giving specific links. You'll need:
ES File Explorer (or any other rooteable file manager)
GoogleServicesFramework
GoogleLoginService
Play Store (phonesky.apk)
Step 2
Install ES File Explorer, then go to Root Explorer and remount /system as RW. Copy the other apks to /system/app. Now long press each of the files you copied (it can only be done one by one with ES), then hit properties -> change and check all the boxes in column Read, on the column Write check only User then uncheck all other checkboxes. The permissions will now show rw-r--r--. Restart your phone. When it starts it'll probably show you the "optimizing apps" screen and Play store will show up in one of your home screens (as this phone has no drawer for apps).
do you think its something you have to download from the PC and then transfer it to the phone? Because I already got the first one through this weird app store.
My god it has so much chinese crap in here
Why would you go through the process of rooting your phone without doing any research whatsoever on how it's done beforehand.
Yeah, you'll have to find the .apk files. Doesn't matter if you download on phone or from PC, as long as you are able to run the file on the phone you're set.

can I just install any firmware? Or do I have to stick to the one that suits my model?
you could try joining an unofficial community for your phone such as
facebook.com/HuaweiG510
it will be easier to request help to people with the same phone as yours
