Perhaps. Unless they pull a Peter Jackson and just stretch out the original story over the three instalments. This is Squenix we're talking about, and the mediocrity of the XIII series is still kinda fresh in our minds.
But it won't be as bad as the XIII trilogy. Hopefully.
Also, this is a decent opportunity for them to make a critical naming decision. Rather than risk having them named VII-1/VII-2/VII-3 and all that nonsense, they could play on our nostalgia by calling the three instalments "Discs". Like the first part would be FFVII - Disc 1, the second part would be Disc 2, and so-on.
I'm looking forward to this, change can help make FFVII new and fresh. I just hope it isn't like *cough* XIII *cough*
Will that website be dedicated to the opposite of...whatever is in aerisdies?
The episodic format did the new Hitman some good, seeing as they could really polish the shit out of the level and release specific support for that level alone.
I can definitely see it work for FF7.

To be honest, a good part of the reason why XIII was so bad is because they spent like half the making of the game figuring out new gen stuff. There's a reason why the game opens up after hours of gameplay. They dropped the ball but for reasons that aren't really applicable here and now.
There wasn't any mention of Aeris living or dying except for the very last line in that article at all..?
They should make a long list of silly things you have to do to bring her back to life/prevent her from dying, like all the false rumors that were going around back then.

Welcome to PCGamesN

They said they were doing that from the beginning though
Whether Aeris lives or dies will depend on a QTE
I suspect most of the plot changes will be to accommodate modern game design
FF7 is very heavy on dialogue for example and it would all need to be voiced and have cutscenes for it which would be tiresome for the player and the game designer both.
i hope they change most of the combat
I hope Aerith doesn't die.
When I first played the game I used her a lot, and then my party kinda sucked a lot after she died.

No it'll depend on the party having a Phoenix Down.
Finally bring the "Why didn't they just use a Phoenix Down" argument to an end.

Another Final Fantasy game had the party members using Phoenix Downs (and revival magic) on a dead party member but to no avail. Phoenix Downs are only meant to revive K.O'd/Unconcsious party members.
It'd be kind of cool if VII's remake did a similar thing, just to make it more well known.

-die in battle after being hit by a runaway freight train, a crashing 747, and Odin's zantetsuken all at once- "Hah, just use a phoenix down."
-get stabbed by a compensating katana during a cutscene- "NOOOOOOOOO!!!! SHES DEAD!!!!!" But what about our phoenix do- "SHE'S DEAD YOU FOOL!"
Yeah, I never got that either.

They tried in an earlier Final Fantasy. Healing/Revival items don't work on actual dead people.

Make it save right after it though, so that you have to stick with it on that save.
And watch the three games just be Crisis Core, the unneeded Final Fantasy 7 remake and an Advent Children game.
As for Aeris lives, can you say: clickbait?

I believe Ramza also immediately calls for a Phoenix Down in Final Fantasy Tactics at some point.
Aeris lives?
good question.
Final Fantasy 7: Remake will be three full games, plot may change significantly
huh?
i read the article and i don't quite get the paragraph where they talk about aeris. it's just "FF7 has a great story, you can't change a story thats already great and not expect some backlash! there's an implication that aeris doesn't die." but nowhere else in the article talks about that. it takes what someone said about extending story content of FF7 to be three long games and then implies they might change plot points and then imply from the earlier implication that one of those things will probably be aeris's death like WHAT this article
