I'm loving everything, except the new unit portraits.
For one, I don't like how much they changed the iconic faces (the Adjudicator just looks... weird now). But, more importantly, they kind of look like portraits, rather than animated images.
I hope I am mistaken, but the animated portraits are one of the endearing things that I've always loved about StarCraft.
Regardless, that remaster is looking beautiful. I'm going to have to look at how much it costs when it comes out. I haven't played StarCraft in a long time... but this might get me back into it.
I can trace my modding and creative writing roots both back to StarCraft's map editor. I would spend hours in that as a kid, making custom campaigns for myself.
Too many hours of my youth were spent on this game. The only reason I don't still play it is because of how inconvenient it is to set up to play, and how difficult it is to get my friends to put the same work in!
Can't wait for this to come out.. it looks amazing. I hope they extend the map editor capabilities.
[quote]At the end of March, it will also roll out a new patch for StarCraft: Brood War, updating it to version 1.18. Once that goes live, StarCraft and the Brood War expansion will both be made free for everyone—not free-to-play, as Blizzard emphasized, but straight-up free. StarCraft: Remastered will not be free, but it will be multiplayer-compatible with the original, so you can upgrade at any time without losing your progress in the campaign or having to give up any of your multiplayer buddies. nice
give me warcraft 3 remastered or give me death

Definitely, after World of Warcraft, it feels like they tossed any hope of anything Warcraft RTS related into a deep, dark pit to be forgotten.
It's cool to see Starcraft getting a new coat of paint, but I'm hoping for Warcraft to get the treatment above anything else.
Seems weird to me that they are recreating the old graphics and gameplay. They could have unified the entire series by making a SCII playing/looking SC1, but I guess Nostalgia wins the day.

Idk, as much as i would like that, it still looks pretty good today.

But starcraft 2 plays terribly.
I'm both interested in this and in a Diablo 2 Remastered.

If I wanted to play starcraft 2, I'd go play starcraft 2.

I'm so excited about this remake. I don't care about the hd graphics or anything, I'm just excited to see the multiplayer alive again. some of my favourite moments playing online games were the thousands of hours over the years i spent playing broodwar online. the custom scenarios scene was huge, and I hope it makes a comeback.
As a die hard fan of the original, being able to zoom out might hurt competitive game play, but it's a relatively small change i can deal with

But SC1 artstyle > SC2 artstyle
