"Missing operating system" - installing Linux on an Eee PC

Hi, I have a new asus netbook that came with Windows 7 Starter and I'm trying to install Linux Mint on it. I used unetbootin to burn the .iso onto a flash drive.
When I load the boot menu, I'm able to select the flash drive, but it says "Missing operating system" and then boots to Windows. The netbook is an asus 1015-PX and I ran unetbootin off an intel mac. Clearly I'm doing something wrong here. :v: I'd love some help so I could get this fixed.
The computer is probably still asking for a cd regardless
kinda like the old pc games.
Even if you had the game installed you still needed the cd in the drive.

My friend had the same problem when his usb drive was misconfigured.
He mentioned something like "oh i forgot to format it" and inevitably burned a disk anyway.
I highly recommend burning a disk for linux, but if you really can't then ensure that the usb is configured correctly and your bios is set to boot off of removable media.
He'll need a USB CD/DVD drive if he's gonna need a disk since the netbook model he has doesn't got one.
