New headset : I can hear audio but the microphone doesnt work properly.

So ok i got a new sennheiser headset ( PC 151 ) and the audio is amazing but the microphone is acting really weird. So i cant get it to work in any game or steam or windows sound recorder ( says microphone not found ) but i can still hear myself IN the microphone? what the fuck is up with that? so it doesnt work in all those games but i can still hear myself in the headset? wut?

Soundcard is creative XFI extreme. its not onboard that's for sure. I downloaded latest drivers. didnt work. also i made sure i plugged the headset in right? what can i do now? i asked dr. google and even he didnt know.

Does your PC use Realtek HD Audio Manager? If so then plug them in one at a time and a little window should pop up with "Input" "output" "microphone" "speaker" "headphones" and stuff like that, make sure that the box checked is the one that corresponds to the one you plugged in.

Uhh i dont know what you mean. My soundcard is something creative but i've never heard of this realtek. where do i look?

Disable your Realtek sound card in the BIOS if your mother has an onboard sound card, which it most likely does.

Alright thanks i'll try it first thing tommorow, i am now on the laptop and i can assure you its my desktop PC's fault because the mic works fine on this laptop.

Well ok so i looked in the bios and all i saw about audio was : HD AUDIO : and it was disabled. now that i enabled it the mic still doesnt work. sigh.

Also reinstalling the driver makes my sound to not work AT ALL. so i had to do a system recovery

What U Hear sets your computer to take the output from your speakers and input it as if it was coming from a microphone.
