Hey guys im thinking about buying a HP ENVY computer for $639.99 because of my $700 budget. I just need to know if this computer is compatible with games on steam. Now I dont mean something like CS:S or Amnesia, something like Arma 2, Planetside 2, Chivary, ect... I'm not saying I'm going to run these at the HIGHEST of high graphics, just enough that it will be able to work and I can play them. To sum it all up look at this computer http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+ENVY+15.6%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+6GB+Memory+-+750GB+Hard+Drive+-+Black/6914633.p?id=1218813788799&skuId=6914633&st=dv6%207210us&cp=1&lp=1 and tell me if I can run modern games with it. Thanks...
Desktops are welcome too
Should be fine for low - med graphics. Although I imagine someone on the forums will recommend a better laptop, for the same price.
Well if someone can find a better laptop under $700, I am open to opinions

Quick note, I'm looking to buy this Friday so fast responses would be nice
Unlikely that it'll run Chivalry, ARMA 2 and PS2.
You will NOT be able to play Planetside 2 on that.
You need to be looking at something with a SV i5 and 650M GDDR5 at least to happily play PS2.

should run them all playably at least on low.

The second one is better, the 645 is just a downlocked 650, so that can be bought upto 650 clocks easily if you are ok with Overclocking too.
Would this workout? (It has to be from bestbuy, I gotta lot of gift cards there) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+14%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+750GB+Hard+Drive+-+Black/6775213.p?id=1218806578593&skuId=6775213

you can buy a nice alienware on ebay for around $625-$700

Yes but I rather get one from a store so I have a warranty on it just to be safe
The one in the OP is the best I could find under $700, how much money do you have in gift cards? If it's not TOO much you might be able to find better / the same for less elsewhere, but if it's a majority then really the best I can find is the one in the OP. It's just not worth $700 at all, though.

Are you saying the HP ENVY is better than the Asus?
Yeah, the HD 4000 is worse than the 7640G, ARMA 2 will work, PS2 maybe, Chivalry no clue, but it's UE3 and is a maybe, again.

SO if i get the HP ENVY I will be able to run ARMA and posiibly ps2? If so it is $60 cheaper and I might as well buy it instead of the Asus. I ran the Asus by a couple of my friends and they said the Asus was better, and possibly one of the better laptps for $700..........just want the one that will last me longer, idc if i can nly run games on low, you know?

Well, if he wants a decent gaming laptop, here you go, I guess.
Other than that, I can't really point to much more other than a new video card.

it would be better for general use but for gaming the HD 4000 just isn't going to cut it, though the APU isn't that far ahead, it's still better.

one last one sorry about this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+ENVY+15.6%26%2334%3B+Laptop+-+8GB+Memory+-+750GB+Hard+Drive+-+Natural+Silver/6819278.p?id=1218808243926&skuId=6819278
HD 4000 as well
a friend ran this buy me http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iBuyPower+-+Desktop+-+8GB+Memory+-+1TB+Hard+Drive/6980995.p?id=1218819330908&skuId=6980995 its a desktop
He doesn't care to expand so I guess I will
if he gets a desktop he's gonna need a monitor, possibly a wifi card/usb, and a cheapy mic, at least for now.

That's a crap desktop, don't get it.
Also, me and McDubs have been talking. He doesn't know how to put together a PC so buying parts separately is out of the question (unless he changes his mind and lets me do it for him). If he gets a desktop with an average GPU or whatever he'll upgrade within a year or two and I'll change out the hardware and stuff for him. So he doesn't necessarily need something that will last him a long time, but enough to run most games for say 1 or 2 years.
Every HP laptop I've owned has had over heating problems. Go with asus

They've actually improved quite alot recently.
I still wouldn't get one, but you can't really go wrong with a HP envy.
A desktop, even if it's prebuilt, would be a better choice. If that's something you'd consider I would suggest getting a base model from bestbuy that uses your giftcard money and buying a GPU and PSU (or simply a lower powered GPU that should run off the OEM PSU) with the remaining money. You would get a LOT more performance even if you only got a low powered GPU.
I ended up buying the silver HP ENVY and it did not work out

And this is why you don't impulse buy prebuilt computers.
Stop looking on Worstbuy and build your own machine.

Nope, this wont run Arma 2, Planetside 2, Chivary at all.
It has a HD 4000 which we have told you NOT to buy at least 3 times in this thread.
My bad posted the wrong computer
