I'm looking to build a new machine specifically to make sure I can run DS2 perfectly. I want to make sure I have the recommended system requirements to begin with as well as anything else I need for the whole machine and I'm wondering how much a machine like this could cost.
Recommended OS: Windows 7 SP1 Processor: Intel® CoreTM i3 2100 3.10GHz or AMD® A8 3870K 3.0GHz Memory: 4 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 465 or higher, ATI Radeon™ HD 6870 or higher DirectX: Version 9.0c Network: Broadband Internet connection Hard Drive: 14 GB available space Sound Card: DirectX 9 sound device
How much do you want your rig to cost? Something along those lines can be done below 500 I think.

All of that is outdated parts and I will be able to build you something better for just as much. Also, I need a budget ceiling.
I was asking how much that PC would cost. For a rough budget ceiling, let's say $8-900 CAD
Well then it would cost $800-900 CAD lol
Still looking for ideas for parts to get. Also should mention I plan on getting a SSD, let's say 200gb. EDIT: Basically, I'm looking for a checklist of things I'll need and suggestions for parts. This will be the first time I build one entirely by myself so I want to make sure I don't forget anything.
Do you need a monitor/ peripherals? Do you need a case? What are your current computer specs?
I'm imagining building a tower from scratch. Don't need to worry about monitor/mouse/key, etc.
It will cost you pretty much $800. Do you happen to live near a microcenter store? http://www.microcenter.com/
No, I was planning on ordering it on Newegg
Well I suggest you get an AMD processor for this price range. Depending on whether you need an operating system or not here's one recommendation for this price range (ignore shipping cost as it will be all free on newegg) http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Lilyo/saved/3ZB9 I would suggest that or a similar PSU so you'll never need to worry about upgrading it again (80+ Gold, fully modular, 10 year warranty), so if the price is getting to tight for you the PSU can be brought down and you can add the OS to the price. I would make an intel alternative too but I don't have time to look at the available offers, though for this price I still think you won't get much of an improvement for a low end i5, and you can overclock the 6300 with the cooler and the motherboard and ram, it's a very nice combo.
Why do you say the shipping will be free on newegg? I tried making a list of items there and it still shows shipping costs in the shopping cart. EDIT: Another question, I still have my Windows 7 disks from my last build. Can I reuse the license for another computer? How does that work?
I think I might have finalized a list. The only problem is the SSD I was looking at couldn't be found on parts picker. Does that mean anything? Is it a problem? http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/recklessmckoy/saved/40Tt SSD $179.99 Intel 335 Series Jay Crest SSDSC2CT240A4K5 2.5" 240GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167128
How much stuff are you going to install on the SSD? You can't install more than 200, and itll fill up super fast if you're installing games. I would recommend a 120ssd and then a 1tb hdd. Better deal. Also damn this all is almost $100 more expensive in canada ha... I have no idea whether you can reuse a copy of Windows on another drive. Also shipping should be free, just sign up for a month of free premium and get free shipping from newegg, unless newegg canada is different.
What do you mean you can't install more then 200 on it? I only plan on putting some games on it. I'll pick up a HDD later on, not worried about it quite yet.
200gb. But if you have another hdd you can always reformat it
I understand 200gb but why do you say I can only use 200gb on a 240gb drive?
the OS will take up a good chunk of it and you don't want to use more than 80% of the space on an ssd.
