technically it's "just do these things we're fucking tired of having accounts hacked/scammed all the time" wouldn't be surprised tbh
I'd love to add a phone # if you'd accept it, Steam It keeps saying its invalid
I'd love to add a phone # if you'd accept it, Steam It keeps saying its invalid
I dint know if this is your case but a few places don't recognize my Google Voice number as a valid phone number and I need to use my T Mobile one.
I dint know if this is your case but a few places don't recognize my Google Voice number as a valid phone number and I need to use my T Mobile one.
that's exactly my problem and right now I don't have a 'real' phone # due to not being able to pay for my phone wee
I'd love to add a phone # if you'd accept it, Steam It keeps saying its invalid
I added a phone number to it, they sent me a code to type in, but it wont accept the code.
technically it's "just do these things we're fucking tired of having accounts hacked/scammed all the time" wouldn't be surprised tbh
When Valve says they are trying to improve support, they really just try to solve the problems that make you contact support in the first place.
The problem is the people that fall for phishing accounts and download "CSGO cheats/skin unlockers" aren't going to do any of this, they're people(probably mostly kids) that don't even understand what internet security is, they don't understand having multiple passwords or what malware is/how it works or even that there are people out there that want to steal their account. If people haven't turned on these security measures until now, they probably never will. I don't know if it already is but Steam should really force Steam Guard on, there's no reason not to have it on, the inconvenience of having to go to your email whenever you open your account on a new computer is not as bad as losing your account.

Steamguard only works with people that have your password. If you fall for one of the scams that involves you downloading something then you're screwed, since steam keeps a file on your PC which is basically a massive password you send to steam telling it this PC is already verified and you don't need to do steamguard again. If that gets taken and they have your password they can totally bypass steamguard.
I added a phone number to it, they sent me a code to type in, but it wont accept the code.
They were that keen with mine they sent the code twice.
I know how to protect your account too, just give me the username, password, email address associated with the account, and the password for that email. I'll keep your account so secure.
I remember when they first did the code thing when you signed in from a new computer, and Gabe was like, here is my username and password, bet you cant sign into my account. What ever happened to that huh Valve?
That was some Intel chip encryption thing iirc.

If it's so valuable why can't I sell it?
technically it's "just do these things we're fucking tired of having accounts hacked/scammed all the time" wouldn't be surprised tbh
They should have also written: "Stop spamming our facebook page with your Steam problems."
If it's so valuable why can't I sell it?
Because it's illegal.
Here is another good tip : Don't download anything weird from people who tell you it's going to give you free things. Basic knowledge of the world and how it works will tell you that it will not work. You cannot get things worth money for free, not even if you download totallynothax.exe
in other words if it sounds to good to be true it probably is,.

If you don't save your password in steam you're pretty safe to an extent because once you realize that you DL'd something malicious you can quickly invalidate all steam guard tokens and reset your password.
Gee thanks, Steam, for reminding me how much money I've wasted on you.
and don't forget to tag people on your friends list so if some random guy adds you and tries to disguise himself as one of your friends, you don't get fooled.
and don't forget to tag people on your friends list so if some random guy adds you and tries to disguise himself as one of your friends, you don't get fooled.
Or preferably, use common sense. It's pretty easy to tell if a link is suspicious or not. Even if it is your real friend's account, it's always possible they got phished and are sending you phish links on their real account. Nicknaming people won't help that.

That reminds me of a few people who have attempted to steal various DOTA 2 and CS:GO items from me by straight up pretending to be my girlfriend, they'd take her picture, profile and pretty much everything else. Sadly it always falls flat the moment they start typing and have the most broken English imaginable. Do they really think I wouldn't notice? Anyway my point is tagging can help, it's not always stolen accounts.
technically it's "just do these things we're fucking tired of having accounts hacked/scammed all the time" wouldn't be surprised tbh
Wouldn't stop the Black Plague from happening on Steam... again.

Most of the time when your account is compromised it is because of the human factor e.g lack of common sense.
my steam account is very valuable it's practically the price of a house at this point with all this impulse buying
What if I don't have a phone with android/ios/internet? Maybe I'm using some Nokia from the 199X-200X...
What if I don't have a phone with android/ios/internet?
