hahaha, oh my god.
You are fucking joking. Please tell me this is a joke and not something they legitimately thought to be a good idea.
wow
A true pinnacle of marketing genius.
How Childish. LETS ESCAPE FROM OUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND PLAY... CALLLLA DEWTY!
I don't really see what's wrong? The title is pretty misleading. The video was about escaping every day frustrations and unpleasantness, it just so happened that a few of them involved a significant female other.
i wish they'd do this for other things other than CoD, awkward time with your girlfriend? get me the fuck out of here :(
That man is Al Capone from Boardwalk Empire.
i thought it was a pretty amusing trailer. cmon guys, stop whining.
I was expecting the worst, insensitive, horrible thing from that trailer by reading that article. then I actually watched the video. There's not really much to fuss over. I mean, I don't like CoD, but this article is overly sensationalist.

This article sums up everything wrong with political correctness. It's not fighting for a cause it's looking for something to get mad at. I hope it's a fad and dies down soon. The constant bitching about bullshit no sane person gives a shit about is really starting to get on my nerves.

They're worse than just posers that pretend to like video games, they're posers that want video games to cater to their tastes.
Still not as bad as the "F.A.G.S." controversy from a few years ago.

This ad, trailer, whatever it may be is fun. I have certainly found moments where I was with someone and it sounded like a chatterbox. It kept going on, on, and on. If I adored the CoD series, I'd be glad this happened to me at that moment. It's supposed to be fun, not something that says; "FUCK WOMEN, PLAY GAMES, IGNORE THEM".

Heh, really? Didn't they just do "BUT GUYS WE HAVE WOMEN NOW!!!!"
This article is written unprofessionally Just take 1 or two things from a trailer and start bashing it like it would make a difference. Not only that but he also insults people who just want to play the game.
How does John Walker even get a job writing anything anymore?
Did I just see Michael Myers?
Beign kidnapped randomly and force me to play CoD: Ghost would be a nightmare.
I don't really see what's wrong? The title is pretty misleading. The video was about escaping every day frustrations and unpleasantness, it just so happened that a few of them involved a significant female other.
All the women in the trailer were frustrating and unpleasant, while the guys could be among the codnappers, the abducted and in some instances the "anchors around your neck". I don't think there's some anti-women conspiracy behind it, but the juvenile brodude culture CoD so famously capitalizes on is so widespread and consistent it gives the entire medium - a medium that's trying real hard to grow up and get respected right now - a bad image. More comprehensively it makes gaming look like "a boys' club", which can turn away women or make them feel restricted to the casual corner. Now, it's not Activision's responsibility to make the industry look anything but that, especially if the brodude image makes them good money. But since the image of gaming is nobody's responsibility, it's everybody's shared responsibility, and people that try to make gaming look more inclusive and fun for *everybody* get frustrated when someone with an AAA-marketing-budget-sized megaphone blows away what little change they can make by comparison. That's really all there is to it from my perspective. No conspiracy against women. No clickbait conspiracy. Just people with colliding goals.
The thing is they just can't model females. It's been copy paste since 4 with different maps + same textures. Let's not expect them to actually add or change anything. Shit the last major change to the CoD franchise was that god damn picture frame

It's not like every game has to be deep and mature, just like there are dumb comedy movies like the Hangover, there's plenty of room for dumb fun games like Call of Duty. I thought the trailer was pretty funny, and it probably hits home for a lot of it's target audience (guys 15-30 or whatever it is), and there's nothing wrong with that. This "dudebros" are the main buyers of the CoD games. It doesn't have to be fun and inclusive to everyone, just for the dudebros. Because they know as long as they are happy they'll keep spending. It's the same with books and movies. It's marketing and it's why they make so much money.

It's among the titles so massive even people with no interest in games have heard of it and know what it's roughly about. CoD's marketing campaign will reach people well outside the target audience, and it won't be balanced out by something like Remember Me or Portal. You know the line, with great power comes great responsibility. You can ignore that responsibility and proceed doing what's best for your company. But it doesn't get rid of it, you will still have an impact on how gaming is perceived and that in turn can upset people. I never said anything like "the entire industry should X" or "every game has to be X". I'm not trying to get anyone to jump on Activision. I'd like people to understand where people like the author are coming from if possible.
I got to 0:57 then I couldn't continue watching, not because of any shitty messages it's throwing out (though they are shitty) but because the whole commercial is just the most bottom of the barrel garbage I've ever pointed my eyeballs at for fifty seven seconds. So yeah, crisis averted, I don't think anyone will be that offended by it because I can't imagine anyone watching it in the first place
