While Australia still suffers with $110 games because of taxes OH god how I envy you Americans.
While Australia still suffers with $110 games because of taxes OH god how I envy you Americans.
New games only cost $80??? And no, only tax on the final product is 10% GST
You guys get paid more, suck it up
No, the minimum pay is higher, the average pay isn't.
No, the minimum pay is higher, the average pay isn't.
The average annual income in Au is just above $70k I don't think Americans earn that much on average
The average annual income in Au is just above $70k I don't think Americans earn that much on average
average cost of living is way up too so accounting for that drops the money-to-burn factor substantially
average cost of living is way up too so accounting for that drops the money-to-burn factor substantially
Of course, which is why games are so "expensive", yet compared to Americans we pay roughly the same out of our pay check for games that they do. Actually as we earn nearly double what Americans earn and yet most of the time we only pay 1.5x as much as they pay for games (this $110 to buy games thing is bullshit), we get the better deal.
They were already too expensive anyway. I'm sure publisher would like to charge more for next gen AAA, they just know they can't get away with it.
AAA games know they get a lot more sales just for their namesakes, and they can push 'standard' pricing and cut for 'platinum edition' pricing eventually, and still make mad bank. the develop time is what's paid for, not the disks. More disk sales overall will outweigh higher disk prices even after considering manufacturing costs.
Damn right they won't cost more to buy; $60 is already fucking bonkers enough for an ordinary BOXED game on a disc, and for a DIGITAL copy it's fuckin' unreasonable unless it's some sort of special edition with added bonuses or some sort of Game of the Year with all the DLC from the past few years. Not to mention it seriously limits the number of people willing to buy a full-price copy, and those that do might end up all protective because god forbid they make a bad purchase.
I'd hope so. I already struggle to rationalize spending $60 on a game these days.
Over here in Brazil it's like 120-160 dollars. Please, god, cut these motherfucking taxes.
Might not cost more but they'll ramp up the price for shits and giggles.
You guys get paid more, suck it up
Dude our daily cost of living is much higher compared to you guys, that's why we get paid more. We aren't swimming in money down here and $100-$110 games are utterly a rip off. [editline]23rd February 2013[/editline]
New games only cost $80??? And no, only tax on the final product is 10% GST
I have noticed that new PC titles are around $80-$90 but new console titles still hit up to $100.
Might not cost more but they'll ramp up the price for shits and giggles.
no what the article is saying is that games will cost more to make but they won't dare ramp up the price because of customer reactions, instead focusing on DLC and extra content to make up the difference
While Australia still suffers with $110 games because of taxes OH god how I envy you Americans.
Beach tax or some such [editline]22nd February 2013[/editline] The last time I bought a game for a full $60 was Battlefield 3, and that was because I pre ordered it. The last one before BF3? Hmmm...I don't recall.
except cod games and australia? heh
