Soo, I got my new motherboard two days ago, installed it. Everything was allright and everyone was happy.
Then, on next day. After I installed L4D and I ran it. I couldt only play for something like 20 minutes and my computer suddenly shuttes down. I tought it was overheating, but no. It was not.
After that my computer shutted down after 3 hours or so. Then it happened after 1 hour and now it happens like, every 20minutes.
I ran a virus scan (norton) in hope that it was just a virus. But it didn't find anything.
Maybe it's just my PSU? I don't know.
My specs:
Motherboard: Asus P5QL PRO Intel P43 LGA775 ATX
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66GHZ
GPU: Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB
PSU: Antec Earthwatts EA-500 500W max (I'm not so good on these PSU things, but I guess this is it..)
Also 2GB RAM
And windows XP
It's really frustrating, that finally after a month, I got my comp working for two freaking days and then something goes wrong again.
Also my FPS in games got lower.
Do you have proper cooling?
Overheating often results in restarts. Temp when restarting?
Wait, does it restart during gaming or not?
How much did your PSU cost?
It's alright. 300W would power an 8800GTS, not to mention it has 17A on two 12v's.

Wait, does it restart during gaming or not?[/QUOTE]But it does not restart. It just shuts down. No warnings or anything. And yeah, it shuts down while gaming and while not gaming
My temperatures are pretty ok too. At least I did not have any warnings while playing (I don't remember the program I used, but it gives a warning when too high temp)
Do a stresscpu test and stress your CPU to the max over a course of half an hour to an hour, and look at your temps in this time. If they're 90 or above, then its overheating.
If not, could be defective PSU. It happens bro.
Norton is bound not to find anything, it's a pretty crap antivirus. Try installing AVG or Avast and scanning.

It is? :saddowns:
Yes, Norton is a waste of money, and it takes your CPU and just..:ese:

It's not really a virus, it just kinda, acts like one.
My computer does this, but rarely, it is very frustrating.
So I heard Windows 7 will be including an itegrated version of OneCare, is this true?
If so, then ther ewould be no reason to purchase any other Anti-Virus, amirite?
I've never had any trouble with OneCare during the trial,
EDIT: Bullshit, Norton doesn't hardly takes any CPU usage at all, not even while scanning.
EDIT: On idle, it takes 00%, and sometimes jumps to 02%.
EDIT: It doesn't even get in the way.
..most of the time.
I wouldn´t have thought that a virus could cause the computer to turn off.
