Picking out quality liquid loop for my next setup, help?
147 replies, posted
I honestly have no clue how liquid loops work, and need help learning about them. My next setup is going to be this and I have no idea how to make a decent liquid setup for it. Would you guys recommend anything? I want it for the cpu and at least 2 of the gpu.
I recommend at least 6 loopty loops to prevent the liquid from falling out.
That's a more money than brains build sir, why.
(Gotta be trollin right? am right right?)
I'm being 100% serious here, it's not only going to be used for gaming - it will run multiple VMs for some server things and a gaming one.
no you're not
w10 pro only supports 512gb of ram

And yes I am.

You go find a case that will suit my needs. I can't find any.
yeah because no one should be spending 26 thousand fucking dollars on a single tower pc
[editline]23rd June 2016[/editline]
so let me get this straight
you're willing to spend 26 thousand
but when it comes to water cooling; better ask the professionals at facepunch studios ltd forum?
lol $27,000 build. You're wasting your money in the long run and there is absolutely no reason you need this much power in one rig.
yeah because no one should be spending 26 thousand fucking dollars on a single tower pc
Why do you care how much I spend? It's my money. It's not going to be for one use - it will be for more than just gaming/casual computing.
TN monitors? Put on some big boy pants and upgrade to 3 Acer Predator X34s and 2 Intel® Xeon® Processor E7-8890 v4s.

fyi the age of mining bitcoins on gpus is kinda over now so if you expect to get your investment back
you're not
Also are you a fucking heroin dealer or something because I cannot fathom how anyone, especially a Facepuncher poster, can spend this much fucking cash on a tower PC.
I give this troll attempt a 0/10

he's paying in singles

I am going to use the parts now, but thanks anyways.

I'm not looking to get my investment back.
I still am.

Does it even matter why I am spending this much on a server/vm tower?
All I am asking is how to set up a liquid loop for the gpus and cpus.

Yes.
well my friendly suggestion is to pay an army of third world toddlers to piss on your cpu and gpu keeping them cool at all times
since you know, you are willing to piss away money after all
Okay this thread is either a troll thread or else this guy is the brother of that one actual son of a billionaire who is on here (forgot his name).
Yes.
Because I have the money available to. Just because people can't understand a person having enough money to buy something that they want to buy doesn't mean they should stop others.
Some people buy cars, I buy computers.

you are being a real asshole to me for no real reason, please stop
Are those 10 SSDs gonna be in RAID 0? Because that'll be ballin' fast.
[sp]Would you also mind paying for my classes? thx bb[/sp]
In seriousness, it'll make more sense to go for an Intel xeon 12 core or 14 core. The 10 core isn't really for anybody. Looking at all the components though, there shouldn't be any problem getting them all in an ethusiast grade case or even just a corsair obsidian honestly. Having only SSDs leaves lots of room.

that was my serious suggestion
the cost investment should only be another couple thousand for an army of third world toddlers

There's a difference between buying a nice car, but what you're doing is a lot like buying a nice car and never leaving your block with it. You are very unlikely to get much usage out of what you're buying and by the time that you will probably actually utilize most of it, the parts will be much much cheaper. We're not all giving you shit for spending money, we're giving you shit for spending a pointless amount of money.

It's not just that you're spending $26k on a single PC, it's also that you're spending $26k on a single PC when you could spend less than $5k on a PC that would fit your needs even better.
If you want to run enough VMs to fill all that RAM, you're gonna want a few more CPUs.
That is, (stable) server CPUs, in a server case with conventional (air-based) cooling, tucked away in a server room where you can't hear it, because maintenance on this monstrosity would be a pain in the ass.
I also seriously question how you as a single person could possibly use up that much horsepower.

I was going to try raid 10 or raid 0, i am not sure yet.
The case I will look into.
Do you by chance know anything about liquid loops?

There is no difference between buying a nice car and buying something else that is equally useful in a different way to different people.
I am definitely paying a premium since most of the parts just came out, but that's fine for me.
Saying I am "spending a pointless amount of money" is subjective and opinionated. I need this for a couple of different projects and work.

Thanks for the notes, but I have a definite purpose for all the ram and horsepower. I'm going to run some servers and such on the machine for others to use too - not just me.

no, this is objective
this is literally a pointless amount of money
i can guarantee you what you're doing can be done on a pc a tenth of the price you're paying
What is it, exactly, that you're doing? Sticking this all into a single computer is frankly a stupid idea. Why not build a proper Beowulf system or other distributed computing network if you've got money to blow?

If you want to do car comparisons, you're being the equivalent of the middle aged dude who buys whatever car is most expensive to compensate. Also cars are something you drive around town often to show off. This is a stupid buy and you're wasting your money. Having a $27,000 computer unless you actually need one won't make people impressed, it'll just make you look like an idiot.

Is your project by any chance doing calculations for North Korea's atomic bomb factory because I cannot fathom any project one person would be doing that would require over a 1000 fucking GB of RAM.
like jfc the bus factor for this 27 thousand you're spending is ridiculously high
that's enough to have a nice gaming pc plus a server plus a ubiquiti network setup plus a big ass NAS
and still have enough money to go buy a new car
If you're actually serious about this, you'd be much better off building a very powerful server and a separate dedicated gaming machine. If you decide to go with this actually reasonable route, PM me and I'll help you with the water cooling.
