• Windows 7 64x "Dcom service/Plug and play ended unexpectedly and needs to restart"

Hello, The past couple days my computer will randomly spew the "Windows must restart because the Dcom service or plug and play service ended unexpectedly and needs to restart" at the most inconvenient of times. I presumed this was a virus but after a short look up it's a corrupt OS. I have in my hand a backup of my installation via ERD, but dates to July 25, 2013. Would it hurt the system to try and restore the missing files from here, or would I end up restoring the entire OS to that date, and potentially loosing registry files or what? TL;DR: -Windows 7 64x gives the message "Windows must restart because Dcom service (or plug and play service) ended unexpectedly and needs to restart" -I have a backup of my OS in an ERD disc that dates to Jul. 25, 2013. -How do I fix the error by changing as little as possible? -Will using this restore important registry files as well? I am not too familiar with these processes, so if you could walk me through important steps carefully then I would greatly appriciate it. Thank you.
The best way to fix corrupt Windows files is to open command prompt and type sfc /scannow
