Cause I still get lag sometimes in overly populated or just weird places:
AMD Athlon II x2 250 Roger 3.0 Ghz
2 x 2 GB DDR3 ram
1 TB 7200 rpm SATA HDD
NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a GPU
Windows XP Pro x32 bit Service pack 3
GPU is built into the motherboard and CPU socket is AM3 so I figure I could upgrade both, but was wondering if it was necessary or not. I'm using standard settings that you use after you plug everything in, the only thing that I changed was so the two 2gb sticks of ram work as one instead of working separately.
Also I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit that I was thinking of installing, should I?
Integrated graphics are garbage, theres your problem.
Install x64, theres a maximum of 3 gig of ram including video ram with x32.

Thanks, this was my first build so I was paying it from week to week and the x32 was only because I didnt have a dvd drive but Im getting on by the end of the week end for like 15 dollars new. AS for the gpu just gotta wait a while for that, should hold for a while right?
The CPU is good enough for GMod. The GPU on the other hand... Eugh.

I assume the PSU's a complete piece of crap so;

A 125 dollar upgrade that'll make a massive improvement.
Crap, I just spent my last 145 to get a screen, a dvd drive, wireless keyboard and mouse, and buy gmod and counter strike source
Start saving up, you'll want to.

What PSU do you have currently?
hec HP485D 485W ATX12V

And not a case of " oh man I gotta save", next weeks check will cover it perfectly fine its just that, are those going to be the same price next week
Get a 450, Cheap and it will run gmod with flying stars.

Again, I dont care about price, next weeks check is going to be around 200 dollars

Yeah, but so will the 4850. And if he's to get the 450, he needs an even more powerful PSU.
Theres no such thing as x32.
[editline]27th November 2010[/editline]
It's x86.

Pretty sure he was just confused because 64bit is labeled as x64, so he assumed that 32 bit was x32. Fairly common and understandable mistake.

Yes, but I've learned that you can never assume anything in the PC field, and you can never stop learning.
So research everything before you post.

Then you would never post :colbert:

Dudes gotta a point.
and I knew, I just assumed some may not know that, as you did with me
Anyway, How good of a PSU would I need for the 450?
450 watts minimum
I feel like an idiot
I feel like an idiot
Why? Who would have guessed you needed a minimum of 450 watts to run a 45-... oh wait. yeh fail pun stfu dont care :frog:
Just seemed like a dumb question.
Not really.

Yes you can.. I can guess clock ratings for upcoming cpu's pretty well.
From most benchmarks I've looked at the 450's only get 2-5 FPS more than the 4850. Not worth it in my opinion.
MSI has a nice model out, 930mhz core clock.

You don't judge GPUs on coreclock.
Ever.

Or VRAM, for that matter. Or really any single judgement. You need to look at it all together.

I know that. But a 450gts stock vs a 450gts with a higher core clock will likely preform better provided they are using the same hardware.

*GTS 450.
And if you're willing to pay that much more for a 2 FPS increase. Go ahead.
Probably less than 2FPS
