• Need help picking out an ultrabook/light laptop for Christmas.

So i want to get a laptop for school work (excel, PowerPoint, word etc, nothing too intensive but out current school laptops are terribly slow and full of bloatware) Web browsing, possibly light gaming (if at all possible, doesn't matter if lowest settings and lowest resolution at 30fps) I preferably want a light laptop, not more than 2.5kg heavy and fairly light/thin in design. My budget is 1850$/1365€/1150£/12000SEK. And please check some swedish websites when suggesting since pricing differences can be several hundreds Eur in difference between swedish and non swedish sites plus I need a Nordic layout keyboard which amazon and such sites don't have (from what I've seen) Sites that can be used are: http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/hardvara/barbara_datorer/ultrabook/ (ultrabooks) http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/hardvara/barbara_datorer/touch/ (touch/ultrabooks) http://www.komplett.se/k/kc.aspx?bn=10011 (not sure if link works with the settings I used but you can pick between seeing only ultrabooks and brands to the left.) http://www.dustinhome.se/xgroup/18105/ultrabook/ I'd prefer an SSD and at least 8GB ram. I've looked at Lenovo yoga touch 13 Lenovo yoga touch 2 13 (the new one) ASUS tx300ca
The MacBook Air is a really solid netbook, even if you just install windows and forgo OS X.
The MacBook Air is a really solid netbook, even if you just install windows and forgo OS X.
It's really expensive for its specs here. 1770usd for i5 dual core 1.3ghz, 4gb ram and 256gb SSD.
I can't seem to edit the OP for some reason ( blank text box when I press edit) So here's what I'm thinking about http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/hardvara/174824-lenovo_yoga_133_touch-i7-3537u-8gb-256_gb_ssd-intel_hd-windows_8/ Lenovo yoga 13, i7 3537u, 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD, touch & Windows 8 - $1458/1080€/907£/9490SEK The touch is a plus for me but not absolute necessary. http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/hardvara/168914-asus_tx300ca-c4005h_133_touch_full_hd-i7-3517u-4gb-500gb__128gb_ssd-intel_hd4000-bt-w - ASUS tx300ca, i7 3517u, 4gb RAM (a little bit low for my taste but if it's still worth it then this is still an option), 500gb HDD + 128gb SSD (A huge plus since it's more storage), touch & Windows 8 and the screen can be detatched like a tablet. Has two batteries, one in the screen and one in the keyboard. That's also a plus. - $1304/966€/811£/8490SEK. Any suggestions or any other ultrabooks/laptops to recommend?
With student discounts I've been able to get the Lenovo Yoga 2 QHD (i7 4500, 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD, 3200x1800 resolution down to 11576SEK/1768$ Should I go for this one or is it better to go with the first one at 1458$?
Are you able to get the $1458 one down any with student discounts?
Are you able to get the $1458 one down any with student discounts?
Unfortunately no, it's on a different website. The one that accept student discounts only has the new Yoga variant.
Well in that case I would get the Yoga 2 it has a little more performance CPU wise and the screen resolution is a hell of a lot better, but if its to hard to stretch to get it just get the original Yoga, it's still a good computer too. It just comes down to really whether or not you want the better screen resolution. The CPU is going to be about 5-15% better on the 2 as well. *1000th post ~little celebration for me~*
But is that 5-15% CPU "bonus" and resolution worth 300$? If so, i will get the Yoga 2.
That's all up to you it's really not worth the $300 more, but I would still consider getting the Yoga 2 because I would want that resolution, but that's just me.

I'll try to get the Yoga 2. Thanks.
If the resolution isn't that big of a deal to you then you should get the original, but if it is go for the 2.
