• Building A New Gaming PC - Need Support

Hey there, I asked back in January for help on buying a new computer, but the money had to go else wear at the last minute. So I just decided to wait until Christmas time. I will be spending a large amount of money on this system, and I want to make sure I'm buying the right things. So give me your concerns, comments, anything you want about my system. And Yes, I am aware the Motherboard is sold out right now. This will also be my first time building a computer system, but not my first time around computer hardware.
You can save a lot of money: -> case -> don't go with the 285, get a 5850 instead, so switch up that mobo as well -> unless you need hyperthreading for rendering, go with i5 core, which also means you only need 4GB of RAM -> again, unless you absolutely need great sound, you don't need that particular sound card...minimal difference vs. integrated I do believe -> 1000W supply is way overkill
1. I can look for a different one, I just can't find a nice looking case, that's a quality one at the same time. 2. I have a grudge against ATI, after what I went through with my last ATI card, and their support was awful, so I will never buy from them again. 3. I'll do some more research 4. I was debating that with myself as well, I probably might end up getting rid of it, depending on the money. 5. I got 1000W to support 2 285s, and still have room for more, so it's not reaching the bare minimum on a 750.

1. Alright, I'll take a look into them 2. Christmas of 2007, To be honest I'd rather spend the extra money 4. Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking

Alright, I'll take a look into them, but I don't think I'll buy from them. Thanks for your help though, really appreciate it.
No problem, happy hunting!

There are full towers that work for less, but if u like the look go for it. Yeah, find him a 5850 in stock and that'll work out. http:1366 jacks up prices, but if you can ultilize the CPU then go for it. Also, 1156 only can only support sli/xfire at 8x 8x. Shouldn't be a bottleneck, but its definitely and disadvantage.//www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx Sound card definitely increases sound quality, especially one as highend as the one you have chosen. refer to this list for a good PSU brand. But, A lot of your choices are "beyond the point of reason". The performance per money really declines. Sure you can get i7 and the audio card, but you probably will not need all it has to offer.

Just get a 5870 even though you don't really want to? He has the money to and find a Crossfire board. By the way, the only reason you would stay away from Ati is if you were using Linux.
what is your budget I can make a nice one
We don't care how many stupid shitty grudges you have, a 5870 is way better price:performance than a 285. You don't need an i7, go with i5. Don't need sound card. Don't need 1000W, but need a not shit brand.

The supply problem has also inflated the price much higher than it should be. I don't see this changing anytime before, or during Christmas. How do you know he doesn't need an i7? He may not need it, but if he wants it and knows the advantages and disadvantages of picking an expensive 1366 setup over an i5, then let him. Same thing with soundcards. There are definite advantages to having one. a 5870 or a 285 already uses 500 - 600 W. Add the high end CPU and MOBO, and you can very easily go up to the 800s and 900s. Better brand is recommended though. Not everyone has to conform to whats price efficient, or what the general populace "needs"

Eversmen, no offence, but you clearly don't know what's hot at the moment. If you give us a budget you'll get the best bang for your buck (providing you can quell your petty grudge against ATi).
$404 on a mobo what the fuck

Go with a lesser psu, but go higher than 750 because it looks like you may need it. 5850-70's need 300 watts each. So I'm guessing if you do go with ATi you'll want two. With 600 watts already being used with the gpu's you'll go overboard with some of the other stuff your going to add.
The 5870 does not use 300 watts.
Yea well, it said 600 watts for crossfire.
Yea well, it said 600 watts for crossfire.
And?
Yea well, it said 600 watts for crossfire.
That doesn't mean how much it actually uses. It is so when people buy shitty brand psus and try to crossfire them they don't get in trouble. They can say we recommended this wattage.
That doesn't mean they use 300w each, that 600w counts for the entire system. Not to mention the wattage needed is exaggerated.
This is total system usage so the graphics card can't be 300 watts each but I would reccomend a 600watt+ for a 5870 build I could go lower for a 5850. Also Yumyumbublegum Come to this thread and help this guy out a bit. PSUs don't always run at the wattage they sell at. That is just their peak performance. You always want to get 100w moar than u need
PSUs don't always run at the wattage they sell at. That is just their peak performance. You always want to get 100w moar than u need
I know they don't but as long as you get a decent brand they usually do.
