Hey, I was just wondering if the Z-5500s are worth the price. I can get them for $350 CAD, but that seems rather steep for speakers. Of course, I'll have to pickup a sound card to go along with the speakers, but that's a different matter. (If you were wondering, I'm looking at the AuzenTech Forte)
I payed £55 for My Logitech X-530 and they are amazing, see if you can get them for a good price

and for a soundcard just get a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE which I have working in conjunction with those X-530's
You could always consider a good headset as an alternative, unless the speakers are for more than personal use.
Yeah, but I like to sit back on my bed when watching movies, since I find that sitting on my computer chair for long periods of time gets uncomfortable.
You can get them way cheaper, the z-5500 are known for being cheap for it's quality.
I got mine for $250
It's way worth it.
They are worth every penny, they even rival my (immensely expensive) Studio Monitors.
They're awesome
I would only get them if you can have them properly mounted with the rears fully behind you. Mounting the rears on the desk in front if you or off to the side will just cancel each other out and degrade the sound quality immensely.

This, on my old 5.1 set I used Guitar stands to hold the rear ones up :v:
Alright, well I caved in and ordered the speakers. Sadly, for $333, but meh, that's the lowest I've seen so far.
Tell us how they sound.
